westyfield Posted August 12, 2004 Posted August 12, 2004 ...Off topic I know but another of my passions is the 1970's, orange Bond Bug.. memories of mis-spent youth and all that! This is a message put out by the BUG CLUB tonight which maybe someone out there can help with.. "Marie and Dave Pickering's unique pink Bond Bug has been stolen tonight from Manchester complete with it's trailer. This is like no other Bond Bug So PLEASE PLEASE KEEP YOUR EYES PEELED." The Car has White Side screens White Seats. Chrome Bumpers and is painted in a lady Penelope Pink. The Reg Number is VON 23J. Hopefully with the efforts of this site and others we can make this such hot property it gets back to its rightful owners as soon as possible. Please RING DAVE ON 0161 775 1595 if you here anything. For pictures check out this website.. http://www.ivansbugs.glowinternet.net/ Thanks, Andyrew Quote

westyfield Posted August 22, 2004 Author Posted August 22, 2004 UPDATE:- PINK BUG STOLEN Dave spent hours searching the local Manchester area and eventually found some straps outside a garage. These were the ones used for strapping his Bug to the trailer. The unlocked garage yielded various parts of the Bug including the roof- seats and engine cover etc. But alas the rest of the Car was not to be found. Marie believes it has now been painted black as it was seen driving around the Trafford Centre in Manchester -Minus its roof. Lets hope the worthless piece of Dross who's done this gets all he has coming to him - To some a three wheeled car maybe seen as a bit of a laugh and perhaps the theft has not been treated as seriously by the police as an Aston Martin or such. But, Bugs are not 10 a penny-.. You cant just go down the local Halfords and pick up bits-.. They Don't come up for Sale all that often. Time has to be spent sourcing parts, hours and hours have to be spent on body prep, spraying, mechanicals, engine re building etc. Lets hope that no more damage is done and the rest of the car is returned. If you live in this area, or you know someone who does, please please keep your eyes open and let Dave Know. RING DAVE ON 0161 775 1595. Quote
