Major Stare Posted July 31, 2004 Posted July 31, 2004 send me an MOT form, if i send you a Cheque and car details? Due to personnal & work reasons.....i just dont have time to get it MOT'd. Plus, the last place i took it failed it for the most stupid reasons (see previous post), its never failed an MOT since 1989 ( i have the proof) and nothing has changed for it to fail now. So.......the cheque book is sitting here waiting........ Quote
Man On The Clapham Omnibus Posted July 31, 2004 Posted July 31, 2004 Down your local boozer, I'd have thought ... Quote
Blatman Posted August 2, 2004 Posted August 2, 2004 Looks to me like you are conspiring to commit some sort of MOT fraud.... You never know who's reading this Quote
KerryS Posted August 2, 2004 Posted August 2, 2004 Years and years ago a (nameless) friend used to get his 1923 Lanchester MOT'd by phone.................his brother ran a garage zillions of miles from where he lived. But this is illegal of course and I would not condone such actions.......... Kerry S Quote
moomin Posted August 2, 2004 Posted August 2, 2004 once I've received your cheque for one thousand pounds sterling, with your vehicle details, I'll pop your certificate in the post... look forward to hearing from you soon. moomin Quote
conibear Posted August 2, 2004 Posted August 2, 2004 send me an MOT form, if i send you a Cheque and car details? whats yer budget nemo Quote
Blatman Posted August 2, 2004 Posted August 2, 2004 It'd be cheaper to fix the car, I'd have thought... Quote
Dracoro Posted August 2, 2004 Posted August 2, 2004 Out of interest, what did the car fail the MOT on? Quote
Major Stare Posted August 3, 2004 Author Posted August 3, 2004 moomin.....£1000 is a bit high !!! conibear.....my budget is £25.00 Dracoro, it failed on.... Just a few things....... Foglight switch on with side lights (should light up only when turned on???). Front brake pipes connected to fuel pipes........eh ....need to look into that one. Front brake pipes fouling suspension and connected to cycle wing bracket. Handbrake cable fouling fuel filter. Rear brake pipe fouling rear suspension Centre brake pipe fouling steel frame. Examiner also commented that the brake pipe work was of a poor standard with too many bends and some pipes too long. And lastly..........NO VIN NUMBER/PLATE !!! Im off work today, so i'll have a bash at sorting them out. Then hopefully, one day this month it wont be raining and i can take it for another MOT. Quote
Mat Jackson Posted August 3, 2004 Posted August 3, 2004 Re brake pipes conected to fuel pipes. Have you clipped them together where they run under the car or down the tunnel? He may think this will cause chaffing and possible failure. Also if anyone did write you an MOT and one of these things failed on the car causing an accident, then they could be in a bit of hot water!!!!! Hope you manage to get them sorted. Did it pass SVA OK? IF so I wouldn`t of thought the MOT guiy should have reason to pull you up on these issues? Quote
Major Stare Posted August 3, 2004 Author Posted August 3, 2004 Its passed every MOT since it's SVA in 1989...i have all the MOT's to prove this. So why is it that it fails now , ive changed nothing since i bought it 8 months ago? Quote
worzel Posted August 3, 2004 Posted August 3, 2004 Either rectify the faults found during the MOT or take it to another test centre. If you've got time to drive the car, then you've time to get it sorted - surely Good luck with whatever you do, but don't get a bent MOT IMHO Steve Quote
Major Stare Posted August 3, 2004 Author Posted August 3, 2004 don't get a bent MOT The topic was posted in good humour, i wouldn't dream of a dodgy MOT. Im just SLIGHTLY annoyed at the MOT mechanic (searches for a t0ss£r Smillie) Quote
S8ight Posted August 3, 2004 Posted August 3, 2004 was just going to offer you one for a tenner then try a different tester/station. MOST testers havent got a clue when it comes to something different/old. the wifes grandad took his clubman to his usual garage for mot a while back. it came back with a list as long as youre arm, a quote for £850 to do the work and they then told him it wasnt worth doing as it would fall apart by the next year. took it to the guy i normally use. needless to say he laughed at the fail !! two new tyres, two new shocks and a slave cyl. later it passed. Carl Posted August 3, 2004 Posted August 3, 2004 Full respect for managing to drive to the MOT station with the front brake pipes attached to the fuel line. Quote
