Westfields Rock On Posted July 30, 2004 Posted July 30, 2004 Ive been at my friend house tonight and his mate turned up with his 32GTR Skyline, and of course, its the fastest thing to grace the earth. Watching this DVD, and theres a bit where theres a few on track and said "my friends Westfield would go as fast as that." To which mr Skyline driver said that a Westfield wouldn't stand a chance against a Skyline anywhere. Even though ive got a vid of an XTR2 (dribble ) crushing all round donnington including a cosworth. So experienced mates, what do you think would happen if on track there was a 220bhp Westfield racing a GTR32? oh, and they don't seem to think much of experienced driving skill. I happened to say, i believe a very experienced driver in a 2l TDi passat could take on the average 20 year old in a Scooby and win round the Nurburgring. I mean my dads destroyed a Volvo T5 in our Scoob GX before. 37years experience. what do you think to that? Quote
Mat Jackson Posted July 30, 2004 Posted July 30, 2004 Westfield would win hands down, based on the my expert Westfiled driving knowledge. (This consists of a month sitting in a shell going brum brum!!! Seriously though, on one of the area websites there are some drag videos which show a circa 200bhp Westie beating a TVR and Porsche 911 turbo in a straight lne quite convincingly. Add in the fact that it will out brake and out handle a car weighing twice as much by miles would further add to the debate. If your mates acknowledge the superiour handling and braking of a Westfield, show them these clips. Not only will they be amazed, but the could do nothing but agree. Hope this helps. (anyone know how to link to the video clips?) Quote
Arm Posted July 30, 2004 Posted July 30, 2004 Its easy, ask him to join a club and enter a sprint, hillclimb or circuit race and we can compare the times. Quote
Mat Jackson Posted July 30, 2004 Posted July 30, 2004 Beat me to it, Just found the site and was about to linnk it. Was slightly wrong with the figures. It was only a 175BHP westie that killed the 400+bhp Porsche. I think that should end any arguments................. Quote
Matt Seabrook Posted July 30, 2004 Posted July 30, 2004 Yep and my car was about 3/4 of a second to a second quicker than the Vx car as well Quote
Bazzer Posted July 30, 2004 Posted July 30, 2004 Me and a few lads went to the RWYB at thorney island the other day. My car would destroy a Skyline even more on a tristy track !!! Westfields Rock On Posted July 30, 2004 Author Posted July 30, 2004 how would a 110bhp SE with 2000 Rocket box fair against a tandard GTr32? Quote
CedricTheBrave Posted July 30, 2004 Posted July 30, 2004 I was up against one of those at Goodwood last Nov I past it two up. and left it I thought that Goodwood would favour the Skyline due to its high speed straights the only things that past me that day was a couple of Radicals (pesky things) Quote
ChrisG Posted July 30, 2004 Posted July 30, 2004 All depends on what track, round Anglesey or most twistier tracks, the light cars will crucify em, but somewhere like Thruxton thats basically all fast corners or straights then it might be different. It also depends heavily on comparative driver talent too. It seems most Skyline owners have a similar attitude though judging by some of the crap that spouts from their forums, Im not picking a particular thread, but I've read some in the past and a lot of it is quite comical. Chris Quote
Matt Seabrook Posted July 30, 2004 Posted July 30, 2004 The only thing I would say about the Skyline is it will tune very easy. I drove a 500bhp Skyline about 18 months ago and I have only ever been in one westy that would live with it to 100mhp and that had a 5000cc TVR Grif engine in it with 340bhp. The 500bhp Skyline only had bolt on mods to get it to the 500bhp it was very Quote
7SE Posted July 30, 2004 Posted July 30, 2004 Yep Trevor bashing Don't you mean Trevorsky bashing? Quote
7SE Posted July 30, 2004 Posted July 30, 2004 It also depends heavily on comparative driver talent too. I thought that computers took care of that, all the 'driver' has to do is stomp on the loud pedal and point the wheels in roughly the right direction Quote
