slippy Posted July 28, 2004 Posted July 28, 2004 Can anybody recommend a tuning company in the North East that has rolling road facility and the abiltiy to set up Weber Carbs. Cheers Mike Quote
Stevo Posted July 28, 2004 Posted July 28, 2004 There is Macdonald racing in Lanchester, not had any personal experience with them but they did do a rolling road power run session with the NE area members earlier in the year. Quote
oioi Posted July 28, 2004 Posted July 28, 2004 there are a couple of options. a place in Stokesley (Whose name I forget but the owner is into se7ens) and R+P woods where I have taken my car are in Heaton, Newcastle. I have had my westie on the rollers at R+P woods and in my experience they have done a good job at a reasonable price. No need to complain. Plus one time I had it at back from the rollers, but was a bit unhappy with a mid range flutter and Paul sorted it out free of charge with a couple of drive by stints. My car will be in on Friday for an MOT *fingers crossed* If you want other suggestions come along to the church mouse in chester le street tonight from about 8. the ne7ers are having a monthly meeting. Guest Posted July 28, 2004 Posted July 28, 2004 Allmark, on the Stokesley industrial estate is very good for mapping and other ECU work. Not sure about Webers though - I do not think he stocks the jets etc. but balancing should be OK. John Quote
Andrew Posted July 28, 2004 Posted July 28, 2004 If you can track down Ron Harper who used to be in Middlesbrough, he'd do an excellent job on carbs. He's now somewhere near Stokesley, possibly Swainby. There's also two in Northallerton, Motoscope and Northallerton Tyre and Battery. (Not a very sporty name but they did a good job on my car.) Quote
slippy Posted July 29, 2004 Author Posted July 29, 2004 Cheers gents I will use the 'facilities' at work today to do some ringing about, what sort of price am I looking at just as a ball park figure ? Cheers Mike Quote
slippy Posted July 29, 2004 Author Posted July 29, 2004 Cheers Chaps I'm booked in tomorrow with Ron Harper who is now based in Faceby just off the A172 I will let you know how it goes Quote
slippy Posted September 18, 2004 Author Posted September 18, 2004 Ron Harper is a 'Legend' and a nice guy to boot he sorted my motor and he also cured my brothers long standing problems which now means he can keep up with me (curses). I've been back a few times for various bits and bobs and every time he has done what he said he would and it has improved my car no end. Out of interest he also runs and old triumph in the Historic touring cars which goes and sounds beautiful. No I'm not in love with Ron but I wish I was related ha ha Quote
Andrew Posted September 18, 2004 Posted September 18, 2004 I was talking to him at Croft last weekend, he said he'd had a couple of Westy owning brothers in. As you say, he's an all round good guy, has plenty of time for a natter. He said he was back racing at Croft next weekend in his Spitfire. I think, powered by a 1.6 BDA. Its well worth watching in among the spaceframe Elans and Banks Europas. Quote
slippy Posted September 18, 2004 Author Posted September 18, 2004 DO you know when the next NE meet is ? Quote
Andrew Posted September 18, 2004 Posted September 18, 2004 Well, it is usually the second Wednesday of the month, which would make it 13th Oct. Someone will no doubt correct me if I'm wrong. Walworth Castle, near Darlington is the venue. Quote
steve_m Posted September 18, 2004 Posted September 18, 2004 I used to use a company called something like A19 Test and Tune about 10 years ago when I lived up in the NE. He managed to sort out a few cars I had. His workshop was just off the A19, surprisingly Quote
