neilwillis Posted July 15, 2004 Posted July 15, 2004 If anything, the dangers are greater on the road. Don't see many 6" curbs capable of tripping up a car on tracks, nor the usual crop of steering wheel attendants who's idea of the highway code is about as thorough as their knowledge of machine code! Does anyone here have a brain they consider is worth less than an RAC bar? Quote
Mark Purves Posted July 15, 2004 Author Posted July 15, 2004 i am always dubious about polls on here. its a very self selecting section of the westfield community. at the moment the results are roughly 50/50 but from what i have seen this is not strictly the case.just my tuppence worth;) Is this due to the fact that most Westy owners are not questioning what is supplied as standard from the factory?? The overall figures are leaning on the non standard bar front Quote
Peter Cox Posted July 15, 2004 Posted July 15, 2004 flippin spellcheck, I mean roll bar of course ! No, I think "roll barrow" is funnier . Thanks for leaving the uneditted post. I can see it now..ROFL Quote
Peter Cox Posted July 15, 2004 Posted July 15, 2004 Does anyone here have a brain they consider is worth less than an RAC bar? errr....how much is an RAC bar? Quote
Bananaman Posted July 15, 2004 Posted July 15, 2004 IMHO the Factory should NOT allow cars out without a RAC spec Roll Bar it's about as much use as a Fish needs a woman like a .................................. or something like that..... I'm glad i got the Cage after seeing thoughs pic's.... Quote
neilwillis Posted July 15, 2004 Posted July 15, 2004 You can get them for about £150.00. How does that compare to a life of total care when you end up in a permanent vegetative state, and require round the clock nursing care? I'd rather be driving than dribbling! Quote
Mark B Posted July 15, 2004 Posted July 15, 2004 Like many others I have the standard late type westfield bar, but have been thinking just lately about & looking into fitting an rac bar to give myself & passenger some extra protection. Interesting thread tho, but when you look at alot of other convertable type cars eg morgan style & other older styled kit cars they have no roll over bars at all, even many standard production cars, eg MG midget, MGBGT upto present day have precious little roll over protection including mercs etc. How much is an rac roll bar anyway? Mark. Quote
Mark B Posted July 15, 2004 Posted July 15, 2004 Ah Neil was replying as I was typing! If they're only 150 quid I think I'll go and order one then......... cheers, Mark. Quote
Mark Purves Posted July 15, 2004 Author Posted July 15, 2004 I have seen at least one Westy with no rollbar WHY?? Quote
Mark Purves Posted July 15, 2004 Author Posted July 15, 2004 Guess there might be a rush on RAC bars then. Do I get commission for bringing this to the front of peoples minds again. All donations greatly recieved and will be donated to my favorite charity SILLY WILLY. Quote
neilwillis Posted July 15, 2004 Posted July 15, 2004 True, there are a lot of cars on the road that are very dangerous. Some of them have very strong windscreen pillars that are supposed to act as a roll over bar, but just because they're legal doesn't make them a good idea. As was said in the other thread today, you don't actually require a bar at all to be road legal. What matters though is making sure that in the event of the worst happening, is that you have as much security as possible. For the cost, and effort required to fit them, it's a no brainer IMHO Quote
will maskell Posted July 15, 2004 Posted July 15, 2004 I cant understand the builders cars that are built amazingly well with powerfull engines and all the best gadgets available and then fit....wait for it......its coming....A CHROME STANDARD ROLL BAR......err sorry but it seems a no brainer to me if you didnt fit one when you were building then fit one asap imho.the boot box is ****e anyhow so throw it away rant over and back to you mr p Quote
Mark B Posted July 15, 2004 Posted July 15, 2004 Neil, Where can you get them for 150 quid mate, I've just at the wf parts store on line & they are 230 quid? Cheers, Mark. Quote
ROC Posted July 15, 2004 Posted July 15, 2004 Some of the other 7 style manufacturers build the rollbar in as part of the chassis, what are your thoughts on this folks? Rich. Quote
adhawkins Posted July 15, 2004 Posted July 15, 2004 Mine is RAC spec with extra 'hoops', so I selected 'Bespoke' Andy Quote
