Mark Purves Posted July 15, 2004 Posted July 15, 2004 After my post about the rolled Caterham, there seems to be a very strong debate starting. So lets have a vote on the issue to see what people run with. Quote
7SE Posted July 15, 2004 Posted July 15, 2004 I've got a std hoop only, which is not much use in a roll 'cos there is no bracing to handle fore/aft loads. Coincidently I am off to Caged tomorrow to get them to measure me up for something with bracing and perhaps a diagonal. I've been in a rolled Westfield with a RAC bar - very good they are too Quote
Two Dinners Posted July 15, 2004 Posted July 15, 2004 One off made to measure job. I am not the best looking chap so thought it better to have a roll bar that was tall enough to stop me getting even more ugly in a roll over. Quote
GWatson Posted July 15, 2004 Posted July 15, 2004 RAC roll bar should be a minumim for everyone. Worth every penny in the event of an accident if you roll it. Quote
Man On The Clapham Omnibus Posted July 15, 2004 Posted July 15, 2004 Standard Westfield, but I have every intention of fitting an RAC bar before going to track or airfield days. Quote
Mark Purves Posted July 15, 2004 Author Posted July 15, 2004 Why wait for track or airfield day?? Quote
neilwillis Posted July 15, 2004 Posted July 15, 2004 My bar is RAC stylee, but taller cuz I'm 6'6, and even an RAC bar wouldn't protect me! A bar is only any good if it stops the car before your bonce hits terra firma. Quote
studbuckle Posted July 15, 2004 Posted July 15, 2004 the vote doesn't show the 'standard' bar in it's many forms from the days of the SE (and pre-lit?) to todays design Quote
oioi Posted July 15, 2004 Posted July 15, 2004 i am always dubious about polls on here. its a very self selecting section of the westfield community. at the moment the results are roughly 50/50 but from what i have seen this is not strictly the case. just my tuppence worth;) Quote
gee_fin Posted July 15, 2004 Posted July 15, 2004 Standard roll over hoops should be made illegal IMO Quote
Man On The Clapham Omnibus Posted July 15, 2004 Posted July 15, 2004 I am not specifically waiting for track days, it's simply that I wouldn't go until an RAC bar is on the car. OK, I know the dangers on the road are as great and that I really ought to do it now. Quote
Peter Cox Posted July 15, 2004 Posted July 15, 2004 Also, best to differentiate between bolted and welded RAC bars. Quote
Boxerman33 Posted July 15, 2004 Posted July 15, 2004 I've a standard roll barrow on my narrow bodied car and am concerened about the comments on it's ability to protect me if I stuff it Who can I go to to buy and (get fitted) a chromed RAC bar (if available)? P.S. I'm in North Yorks so somewhere local would be handy !! Quote
Boxerman33 Posted July 15, 2004 Posted July 15, 2004 flippin spellcheck, I mean roll bar of course ! Quote
Mark Purves Posted July 15, 2004 Author Posted July 15, 2004 the vote doesn't show the 'standard' bar in it's many forms from the days of the SE (and pre-lit?) to todays design For Standard I was meaning factory supplied non RAC approved. Quote
