Demos Posted July 14, 2004 Posted July 14, 2004 Hi, I would like to ask those of you who are racing and have the MSA regulation book if and what are the weight limits for a type seven kit car like our Westfield in some sample categories : Track Championship Race Minimum Weight Road Going up to 1.6L ?? Road Going up to 2.0L ?? Modified up to 1.6L ?? Modified up to 2.0L ?? Hillclimb or Sprint Championship Race Minimum Weight Road Going up to 1.6L ?? Road Going up to 2.0L ?? Modified up to 1.6L ?? Modified up to 2.0L ?? So for those not involved in racing kit cars to have a basic idea of how far it makes financial and performance sense to lighten a Westfield. This is minimum weight info and the type of races available is usefull for somebody who is indented to participate to a championship or do the odd sprint and hill climb races like myself. Thank you Demos Quote
barney Posted July 14, 2004 Posted July 14, 2004 For sprints and hillclimbs its as light as you can *ahem* get your car Rubble now at 380 Kgssssss yes i know if i lost a few myself............if i had a quid.... just getting in before the voice of reason......... Quote
Rob Navin Posted July 14, 2004 Posted July 14, 2004 Demos For quite a detialed set of info check here out Most of the posts show weight and a power to weight ratio and spec. As Barney says for spriniting you can get them a light as you can afford HTH Rob Quote
Blatman Posted July 14, 2004 Posted July 14, 2004 And individual championships have different requirements. There isn't one "catch all" set of rules in the Blue Book. So decide where you want to race, and get the regs..... For instance, in the LoCost Race series, the combined weight of driver and car must be a minimum of 650Kg's (or something). It means Dickie B carries a *lot* of ballast in his car...... Quote
Mark Stanton Posted July 14, 2004 Posted July 14, 2004 As Blats says there is no definitive answer especially by the MSA Blue Book, to the question you have posted It is down to each specific organising championship to specify weight limits for classes This would be virtually impossible for any sprint and hillclimb to enforce as a set of accurate scales would need to be available at the venues Quote
Blatman Posted July 14, 2004 Posted July 14, 2004 a set of accurate scales would need to be available Leave it.... Quote
