Westfields Rock On Posted June 11, 2003 Posted June 11, 2003 Cannon powershot A30 - £160 ish. its quite good. Quote
Mike dB Posted June 11, 2003 Posted June 11, 2003 I've just ordered a Sony DSC-P52 from work, £150! I've currently got a Kodak DX3700 which I'll be selling on Ebay when I get my Sony Quote
alastail Posted June 11, 2003 Posted June 11, 2003 Mark, If you go to www.dpreview.com they have in depth reviews of all current digital cameras. They don't make recommendations and all advice is fairly impartial and it is very helpful for narrowing down the selection once you have a couple of cameras in mind. Regards Alastair Quote
steppenwolf Posted June 11, 2003 Posted June 11, 2003 So much depends on what you mean by 'well priced' but my current favourite is the Minolta Dimage 7 ( 5.2 megapixels ). This looks like and handles like an SLR and takes fabulous pictures. They cost around £700.00 Dropping down to around £200.00 is about as low as you want to go IMHO and the Fuji Finepix 2600 Zoom ( 2 megapixels ) is in this band and is like a standard 'compact' camera. Both the above give good results, the Fuji being a 'snapshot' camera and the Minolta being semi-pro. HTH Quote
milky2971 Posted June 11, 2003 Posted June 11, 2003 Hi Ive got a Fujufilm finepix 2800 and still love it to bits paid £280 for it from www.internetcamerasdirect.com and got it the next day I bought the cam after recomendations from my M8 after he sent me a few pics if you want me to mail you some pics than let me know Trev Quote
Westfields Rock On Posted June 11, 2003 Posted June 11, 2003 wheres hogman or john? i think they have some low budget style digi cams Quote
hogman Posted June 11, 2003 Posted June 11, 2003 Am here am here!! How about a nice Nikon D100 - 6mp Digital SLR, rather good too!!! Price - think they are down about £1300 ish now! For a consumer camera then Nikon, Canon and Fuji are the makes you should consider as they are that little bit better in the quality stakes! Cheers Kevin Quote
Mark Stanton Posted June 11, 2003 Author Posted June 11, 2003 think they are down about £1300 ish now! Slow down there - I ain't won the lottery yet Was thinking of around £450 (or less ) Quote
mogwi Posted June 11, 2003 Posted June 11, 2003 Canon PowerShot S40, 4 megapix, software and stuff, should fit into your budget. I've got one and thinks it's the dogs doodahs. Quote
Richgm Posted June 11, 2003 Posted June 11, 2003 Mark, Got a fuji finepix6800. now called the f601 £350 from C$catgroup_id_parent=4388&categoryId=4388" target="_blank">Argos at the moment (just so you can have a look at it). Good little camera. If you can wait till the 22nd I'll let you play with mine Quote
neilwillis Posted June 11, 2003 Posted June 11, 2003 I Have a Fuji Finepix 6800 too Mark. Look for a camera with an industry standard memory card - you can buy extra cards dirt cheap from Jessops et al that way. If you want me to bring it to Curborough for you to have a play with, be my guest. (we're talking camera here before anyone suggests otherwise ) Quote
steve wilson Posted June 11, 2003 Posted June 11, 2003 Yep, i too have a fuji 601 zoom. I got it about 4 months ago and it takes ace pics. One of the things that i looked for when looking was a built in battery cos these things use normal ones real quick. It has 6m pixals, video, sound recording and comes with its own cradle which you leave plugged into your computer to download pics and charge it. It can also be used as a web cam Check this out Quote
Mike dB Posted June 11, 2003 Posted June 11, 2003 Nikon make the best SLRs (non-digital) if that sways you For cameras go to Nomatica or Askdirect I'm sure people on here know more than thos suppliers though. Quote
