Thrustyjust Posted June 30, 2004 Posted June 30, 2004 Is there anything I can use to move diesel out the tarmac on the drive? Drive and patio cleaner with a jet wash did nothing.Any ideas? Quote
Blatman Posted June 30, 2004 Posted June 30, 2004 Blow torch. It's a combustible, so combust it..... Brake cleaner will rot the tarmac. Don't ask me how I know that........ Disclaimer. I have no idea if burning it will work. Brake cleaner definitely won't though! Quote
XTR2Turbo Posted June 30, 2004 Posted June 30, 2004 household washing detergents are very very powerful. Try some ariel. Quote
JonnyBoy Posted June 30, 2004 Posted June 30, 2004 it has to reach its flash point heat before it will combust doesnt it... dont think you'll have much luck with a blow torch.. although it does work for getting rid of candle wax off the slate fire hearth! Quote
GWatson Posted June 30, 2004 Posted June 30, 2004 I have hear full fat coke will remove oil etc, never tried it but, if you put a 2p coin in a cup of Coke it comes out like new, so it must be pretty powerfull. Just buy a couple of 2 litre's of Tesco's finest and see what happens. If that doesn't work Gunk do a drive way clean, available at your nearest B&Q Quote
pistonbroke Posted June 30, 2004 Posted June 30, 2004 Pnuematic drill and fresh concrete diesel corrosive and will slowly rot the drive away, you could try painting the whole driveway with diesel so's it'l at least match up. What do garage forecourts use? worth asking ! Quote
oldman Posted June 30, 2004 Posted June 30, 2004 Is there anything I can use to move diesel out the tarmac on the drive? Drive and patio cleaner with a jet wash did nothing.Any ideas? Yep.Just say.."Diesel! Now, ya just geet yoor ass owta dat tar boy." : Quote
Thrustyjust Posted June 30, 2004 Author Posted June 30, 2004 Forecourts are always concrete.I have a gallon of jizer, but fear that would eat the tarmac away.Could try it in the main road,as the leak carried on down there too,in fact all the way to the garage who fixed it.I'm thinking of an insurance re-surface if nothing will do it,preferably with jet black tarmac rather than light grey with 2 black stripes. S8ight Posted June 30, 2004 Posted June 30, 2004 put some plasticine around the stain and fill it with pee(animal or human) leave it for a day or so and bobs your uncle Quote
Rob Navin Posted June 30, 2004 Posted June 30, 2004 put some plasticine around the stain and fill it with pee(animal or human) leave it for a day or so and bobs your uncle Once again how do you find these things out ? Quote
karlgurney Posted June 30, 2004 Posted June 30, 2004 pour on some petrol then scrub it like mad with a stiff brush and use some absorbent material to soak it up. Then you could make it look pretty with some household detergents. Quote
karlgurney Posted June 30, 2004 Posted June 30, 2004 I used to know this scotish guy who used to break his new shoes in by peeing in them, what a weirdo Quote
Camel_Landy Posted June 30, 2004 Posted June 30, 2004 If it was on concrete or paving slabs then I'd reccomend GUNK. Tarmac however..... Dunno! Mark. Quote
stu999 Posted June 30, 2004 Posted June 30, 2004 AFAIK diesel/oil etc on tarmac knackers it forever. As has already been mentioned, garage forcourts are always concrete. However, all is not lost. Wickes (used to) sell tarmac paint, to 'hide' unsightly stains... Quote
