markl Posted June 27, 2004 Posted June 27, 2004 Fuel Gauge Sender – The right measurements… After following the manual I have cut down a newly supplied fuel gauge sender for a 25 Litre tank. (p87 of the manual) After fitting it all was well until I filled the tank and the gauge only showed half full! Doh ! I have just realised that the tank must me bigger than 25 litres! Has anyone got the correct measurements for the standard factory Westfield tank (SEiW) (not 25 Litre?) Mark Quote
taffy Posted June 28, 2004 Posted June 28, 2004 Hi Tank is 810 x 210 x 190high. Did you adjust the sender before fitting? Rob Quote
markl Posted June 28, 2004 Author Posted June 28, 2004 Yes, but being a Wally I just used the dimensions in the manual and suddenly realised after fitting that I have the long range tank. Are there any measurements for a new sender I have on order I just need the sender dimensions settings for this long range tank or is it just get the ruler out? Mark Quote
taffy Posted June 29, 2004 Posted June 29, 2004 Hi Mark, Im no expert, with the two I fitted I just fiddled it till the sender nearly scraped the bottom of the tank when extended and worked from there. Rob Quote
Ian Podmore Posted June 29, 2004 Posted June 29, 2004 There's a set of instructions available, which I've got at home somewhere. They are also on the net I think. What is the depth of your tank and I'll dig out the settings you need? Quote
markl Posted June 29, 2004 Author Posted June 29, 2004 Ian, The tank depth is 30cm is that the same as yours? Mark Quote
Glen_I Posted June 29, 2004 Posted June 29, 2004 I done the same as Taffy, just adjusted and fiddled until i was happy that when gauge reads empty there is still a bit(approx 4-5litres) it takes a bit of messing around but not impossible with out instructions... Glen Quote
Ian Podmore Posted June 30, 2004 Posted June 30, 2004 The tank depth is 30cm is that the same as yours? No mine is 190mm, I get the correct measurements for you this evening. Ian Quote
Ian Podmore Posted July 1, 2004 Posted July 1, 2004 See pages 15 to 17 of this pdf document For 190mm deep tank distance from top of tank to pivot of arm should be 95mm, and the distance from the centre point of the float to the pivot point of the arm should be 119mm For 300mm deep tank, same measurements should be 150mm and 187mm respectively.
