studbuckle Posted June 15, 2004 Posted June 15, 2004 Time I started thinking about a new company barge. For those that don't know: Current Car: VW Bora, 110 PD TDi Sport Climate, Cruise, Alloys, CD Changer, Met Black, Tow Bar. 3.5 years old. 127000 It's been the best company car i've had. Hardly any problems with it, reasonably quick, cruise all day over a ton on the autobahn and still do 550+ miles per tank. Fully expensed company car. Contract hire so everything inc fuel paid for (and taxed for) New Car: Roughly same budget so look at an on road retail between 16 and 20K (depends on contract cost) Must have 4 seats Must be low tax Co2 emissions so far on list to test are: Seat Leon Cupra Sport 150 TDi New Bora Sport 150 Tdi Golf 140 Tdi Saab 93 Sports Saloon 2.2 TDi Skoda Octavia Estate TDi So what else? adhawkins Posted June 15, 2004 Posted June 15, 2004 Mundano? Along with a number of the other cars on your list, that will probably be on my list for my next car (yes, the diesel bit as well ). Andy Quote
studbuckle Posted June 15, 2004 Author Posted June 15, 2004 I went on a Ford Drive day and have had a new Mondeo for 24hrs through the Talkback club. I wasn't impressed with the 130PS diesel. Compared to Bora 110, even, it just lacked punch Quote

I would have thought you'd prefer a Bora over a Golf (bit too common if you ask me...) Andy Quote
oioi Posted June 15, 2004 Posted June 15, 2004 why not a BMW compact. you too can look like a cateringvan driver/nunney Quote
studbuckle Posted June 15, 2004 Author Posted June 15, 2004 I would have thought you'd prefer a Bora over a Golf (bit too common if you ask me...) It's the NEW golf though and the Bora is still the same as mine but with more power (and we all know I NEED MORE POWER ) Quote
adhawkins Posted June 15, 2004 Posted June 15, 2004 Point taken...does that mean there'll be a new Bora soon too? Andy Quote
studbuckle Posted June 15, 2004 Author Posted June 15, 2004 according to inside information, not for a good while yet as the new golf hasn't been as sucessful as vw'd hoped Quote
Al Yupright Posted June 15, 2004 Posted June 15, 2004 I'm getting a Pug 307 XSI HDI 136 next week... I would've preferred the golf. But I got a huge discount on the Pug, and it was 4years 0% finance.... Quote
studbuckle Posted June 15, 2004 Author Posted June 15, 2004 Having had 'and blown up' a 306 Turbo Diesel I decided that the pug's just aren't up to the miles. Great car but they just break under pressure. also, given the letters, photos and faxes in my driver file from when I had that car, the fleet manager would never allow me to even look at a pug again Quote
MARSDALEBEAR Posted June 15, 2004 Posted June 15, 2004 . It's been the best company car i've had. Hardly any problems with it, reasonably quick, cruise all day over a ton on the autobahn and still do 550+ miles per tank. . Bora PD 150 TDI + CHIP=185 BHP,Obvious choice Mine is 18 months old 91500 miles and I dont know what to have next.Did look at the WRX 5door but maybe just a little bit ostentatious? Quote
S13RUM Posted June 15, 2004 Posted June 15, 2004 honda 2.2cdti accord 15% omissions 55-60 mpg that would be my choice! or maybe mazda 6? or the new volvo s40 is supposed to be a class leader!!!! Simon Quote
windy Posted June 15, 2004 Posted June 15, 2004 Bora, Golf, Leon & Skoda all the same to me. Only difference is the badges. Have a friend who works for Bentley (VW owned) who is about to swap leased TT 225 hp for the Leon TD. TT has been one of the worst car's he's had & it felt pretty gutless when I was in it down at le Mans. I think the Leon is the favourite amongst employees though - so I'd suggest you go for it! Saab on your list has the same oldish engine as in the Vectra, albeit with Saab engine management. Confortable on long journeys but show it a twisty B road & you'll be disappointed. Quote
Owen9364 Posted June 15, 2004 Posted June 15, 2004 Have a go in the Honda Accord Diesel , drives really well and looks great . Quote
