chrisbin Posted June 15, 2004 Posted June 15, 2004 Hi All I've been with HHH since buying the car 2 years ago. But of course they are ceasing trading soon (end of month?). My policy will be up for renewal end of July.....anyone any ideas on what is going to happen?? Just wondered whether I should be starting to look around for quotes.... Cheers Quote
pete g Posted June 15, 2004 Posted June 15, 2004 believe norwich union have taken them over, you should get rennewal from them instead. Quote
adhawkins Posted June 15, 2004 Posted June 15, 2004 I'd still be checking with the other usual suspects for quotes though. Andy Quote
chrisbin Posted June 15, 2004 Author Posted June 15, 2004 Thanks for the quick responses Andy - yep, I will do a shop around in due course. Wait and see what Norwich Union come up with.... Quote
Mark B Posted June 15, 2004 Posted June 15, 2004 I saw this on another post yesterday and it concers me a bit. I've insured my westy with them only 6 weeks ago & they never said anything to me at the time, so are they ceasing trading or just dropping the HHH name & being taken over? Surely you would tell existing clients & shouldn't take on new business otherwise? Mark. Quote
peterg Posted June 15, 2004 Posted June 15, 2004 Just renewed my motorbike insurance through HHH and they advised to switch away from Norwich Union as they had found me a cheaper alternative....now either they aren't owned by NU or they really are a good broker with the customer's interest at heart Quote
Nick Algar - Competition Secretary Posted June 15, 2004 Posted June 15, 2004 Been with HHH for 3 years now, got the renewal through last week, cost looked OK. Then I read the details and they had changed the car to a Ford Fiesta (don't remember buying one of them). So as it was Norwich Union direct I phoned e'm up and got through the usual Indian Call centre. Trying to explain what a Westie is, was interesting for the first 5 minutes, then I got fed up repeating myself. They suggested writing in to their branch to get a quote. Now seeing as they had been so late sending me the renewal and I had not got staight onto it, the insurance had run out 2 days before. Decided not to bother them anymore, did a quick search here and Dave Spragg of MSM 01279870535 was recomended, so gave him a call. He knew just what I was talking about, took the details, said he had to work it out and would call back. Half and hour later call came, insured fully comp, for same kind of money no problem, cover note started immediatley. All of this on a Sat AM Quote
mattf Posted June 17, 2004 Posted June 17, 2004 HHH are owned by Norwich Union. I read on another forum that in some cases the renewal quotes sent by Norwich Union can be up to about 5 times higher, mainly because HHH specialized in kit car insurance, and Norwich Union don't. Norwich Union are rumoured to treat kit cars as high performance cars and quote accordingly, i.e. high. Quote
Martin Keene Posted June 17, 2004 Posted June 17, 2004 In other words closing HHH in a money making scam by Norwich Union... Quote
RICHARD+PHILIP Posted June 17, 2004 Posted June 17, 2004 I noticed this when I tried to book my insurance on HHH website it went straight to the norwich union site The list of cars didn't even have cateringvan on it so I gave up and got insurance from Flux instead. Quote
markh1970 Posted June 17, 2004 Posted June 17, 2004 Hi All I've been with HHH since buying the car 2 years ago. But of course they are ceasing trading soon (end of month?). My policy will be up for renewal end of July.....anyone any ideas on what is going to happen?? Just wondered whether I should be starting to look around for quotes.... Cheers Hello all, Well I rang HHH in Peterborough, the specialist car unit, and my policy from HHH for my 'busa is underwritten by Norwich Union anyway, and they will carry on as usual when they merge. HTH Mark Quote
markh1970 Posted June 17, 2004 Posted June 17, 2004 Oh also you need to ring 01733 310899 for HHH 'specialist car' insurance, not the webby thing for them. just a man on a phone. Quote
Mark B Posted June 17, 2004 Posted June 17, 2004 There is a statement on their website with the usual, policies will still be honoured etc incase anyone else was worried about their cover etc (as I was). Quote
Nick Algar - Competition Secretary Posted June 17, 2004 Posted June 17, 2004 Mark H, That's what they said to me in about 3 or 4 letters, didn't happen though Might be worth ringing round for a few quotes near to the day, just in case Quote
markh1970 Posted June 18, 2004 Posted June 18, 2004 Nick, Good advise. Have 8 months to go before renewing. So shall see what happens on the switch. Mark Quote
