chazpowerslide Posted June 13, 2004 Posted June 13, 2004 Why can't they insure it on the chassis number, you have proof of purchase, I would'nt have thought I't be a problem. Chaz. Quote
PhilD Posted June 13, 2004 Posted June 13, 2004 Phil, Sureterm said they needed the reg within 4 weeks (but their quote was the best I've had so far). How long ago did you do your MOT and SVA stuff??? Mark Mark, SVA'd mine about 10 months ago. I think I did get mine to an SVA within four weeks but they did extend this no questions asked when it failed. It then took some time to get it registered and they extended it then so I could drive to and from the DVLA centre. Quote
karlgurney Posted June 13, 2004 Posted June 13, 2004 Insurance companies seem to be so picky lately, i received a couple of letters threating cancellation of my policy because i hadn't sent them the photocopy of my partners photocard liscense??? Quote
neilwillis Posted June 13, 2004 Posted June 13, 2004 With FJ, I insured mine for the last 3 months of the build, then phoned them to say it was ready for SVA. Had 2 retests, and registered it all within a month, so it can be done, really it can. Quote
Doug D. Posted June 13, 2004 Posted June 13, 2004 If its only 3 miles is it OK to tow it with the tin top on a toe rope. You can't tow an unregistered vehicle (unless it's on a trailer) Found this out when i bought my car (it was an unfinished project) thought i could just drag it home behind the tintop, one of those things that just supports it on it's front wheels is not legal either apparently. S8ight Posted June 14, 2004 Posted June 14, 2004 You can't tow an unregistered vehicle (unless it's on a trailer) you can if you stick a trailer board with the towing cars reg number on it. Quote
SparkyB Posted June 14, 2004 Author Posted June 14, 2004 The way it's panning out, my old mans gonna tow me in the Westy and I'll put a copy of his number plate on the back of it. I can't afford a proper trailer board so I'll just indicate in the Westy when he does. The route to the garage is all country lanes so hopefully we won't meet the police on route.. If we do I'll just plead ignorance. Mark Quote
