:) I am in the final stages of an 1800 Q module build and would appreciate some advice.  Can anyone recommend a company in the Derby area that could give my car a once over prior to the SVA, set the suspension up and set up the emissions. :D

Ray,

I can't help with a company in your area, however, I bit of advise, I would only set your geometry up somewhere near as you will probally have to adjust the front tracking to the max toe-in & the camber in by 1deg to get some sort of self centring to pass the SVA (mine failed on this so I know) I had mine set up on a lazer unit to within 2mins & had to re-adjust, so save the seting up til after the SVA they do not check cambers etc. however, it should look near.

Bit more advise, make sure the SVA forms refect 5400 max rpm to give you a test on noise at 4000 rpm, the 1800 Zetec should come in at 98dbs.

As for emisions, you will need a letter from Westfield, talk to Mark Walker there, that states the the engine is pre95 & has to be tested to >3.5%CO & >1200ppm HC. I would advise you have your carbs set by a decent garage, they should be able to achieve abour 2%CO & under 300ppm HC. If you emissions are not correct you will get a fail, it's one of those things you can't adjust on site.

Good Luck, it's not as bad as most people make out, oh yes cover up file off all sharp edges, well anything less than 2.5mm radius that is. Just a bit more, I think mine was the first to fail on the headlight bracketry being a sharp hazzard, where the apex of the two tubes come together. I quick rounding with a file & a touch up of paint put it right.

Lastly, many people have said this, cover the rear edge of your nose cone with rubber edging, SVA are getting hot on this.

Good Luck
