Tyre buffing in Essex or reasonably near by

I need a set of tires buffed (well shaved) in the Essex area or possibly upto Cambridgeshire.  Does anyone know of anyone that does it?

Yes I can do it the old fashioned way with a heavy right foot and then swap them round but that’s not what I’m after.

Yes I could send them to tweaks but its going to be touch and go as I need them for Curborough and don’t want to take the risk of them not being back in time.

Anyone?

Cheers,

Keith.

PS - there will be some 205/15/50 and 225/15/50 buffed toyo's up for sale within the next couple of weeks...

Oh and some bridgestone SO3’s, same sizes but with a bit more tread…

In the late '60's we used a Surform (spelling!!!;)) wood shaver to take the edge off the tyres in Formula Ford.  We ran the car on a jack in in 1st gear and run the shaver over the tyres.  It stunk like hell doing it but did we have grip on new tyres?  Oh yes... :)

Also I aways found that just after shaving the tyres need a lttle while to bed back in to get the best grip. With Curb been such as small place you might not get to that point before sunday evening.

That said buffed 720s will be very soft for 1As so maybe saturday will bead them in.

I think Richard B got some done at Micheldever Tyres, which is way down the M3, near Basingstoke/Winchester. So quite a trek from you.

But I think he had to leave them there for a few days.

That place gets incredibly busy at weekends...

Try ringing Polley and asking him if he knows anywhere?
