adhawkins
Hi all, Doubtless those interested already know, but there's an 'Action Day' at Castle Combe next Saturday. I think it's VW themed, but Westfields are invited too. I know of a few people that are going, anyone else? Andy
adhawkins
Nobody from here going then? Andy
Dommo
I'll probably pop along and watch the carnage if I'm not busy, is it this saturday?
adhawkins
It is indeed. We're convoying down at about 8:30 if you want to try to keep up Andy
Tony Sighe
Dommo, If you join the convoy, I may have a spare ticket for entry (save you £8! ) PS - Paul Elliott & I will be putting on a show with his Pugeot turbo diesel taxi on the track. Complete with taxi sign on the roof, and name stickers on the back window. Our objectives are to: - Overtake some of the max power boys (in a taxi! ) - Start he meter running as we leave the pits, so we can calculate the 'cost' of six laps of combe (we could have done this for charity if we'd thought of it! - guesss the cost!! ) Come and watch! PS - Need to be careful though as Paul needs the car back in one piece for work (taxi! ) that night!! cheers Tony

Mark Purves
Sorry Gents can not make it as we will be in final prep of Neil Escort for Rally on Sunday at Abingdon. Open to the public at £3 if anyone fancies coming along

adhawkins
You obviously didn't make it then Adrian Nice to see all of those that did come, and glad I overtook the taxi and hence didn't embarrass myself. Don't think I'll be driving on another Action Day, the standard of driving was fairly poor it has to be said. Chris had a particularly hairy incident with a Rover 216 GTi (that world renowned track monster) while his son was on board. Mike (the Duck) has a lot to answer for...I did an extra lap too Some photos from the day are here. Andy
Crash Override
Great day out, lots of fun for my first track day with the westy. I've got the bug now, I'm still buzzing from it. glad I overtook the taxi and hence didn't embarrass myself Now technically they came out behind us, so we must have lapped them. £17.60 to be taken round castle combe, no wonder taxi drivers are so rich, I hope you gave a good tip Tony.Don't think I'll be driving on another Action Day, the standard of driving was fairly poor it has to be said. Chris had a particularly hairy incident with a Rover 216 GTi (that world renowned track monster) while his son was on board It was pretty poor by the tin tops, that dam golf R32 that kept moving to the right so I couldn't get by managed to get by him exciting the corner by the pits. ...I did an extra lap too I was just following you Andy that's my excuse for not seeing the chequered flag and doing the extra lap when the next session of cars were coming out of the pit lane Photos look good also so. See you at this months meet at the highwayman.
Chris.B
Chris had a particularly hairy incident with a Rover 216 GTi (that world renowned track monster) while his son was on board. That was the model that obviously didn'y have mirrors fitted! I never knew my car had such good high speed grip on the grass It was my first outing since getting the ECU fixed and nearly turned out to be my last! A few of the pics my son took with the phone camera are here: pic1 pic2 pic3 pic4 pic5
