Westfieldman Posted May 17, 2003 Posted May 17, 2003 Call the AA £76.00 Nornal cars like TVR's £36.00 RAC sorry don't cover kit cars Anyone else. Paul. Quote
Mark Stanton Posted May 17, 2003 Posted May 17, 2003 On first trip to Le Mans in 95 - we had occasion to find a new pump d'eau and gasket - There was a combination amongst us of AA, RAC and Greenflag - none of em any good or could help out So it was a scrapyard challenge and cornflake box gasket = sorted Again in 96 & 97 there was BBQ cars, starter ring adift and plug leads + ECU needed - The french are really helpful - honest - it was all self sorted once again without AA, RAC or anyone Pays yer money takes yer choice - all the AA and RAC could offer at the time was - leave your Westfield in France, grab a hire car and they would freight the Westfield over in a week or two Quote
neilwillis Posted May 17, 2003 Posted May 17, 2003 Just take the obvious stuff like plug leads, fan belt, spare tyre, water, a few bulbs, bit of wire, oil, slack handful of nuts n bolts, tube of instant gasket, 4.545454kg hammer , and a basic tool kit. It won't take up a lot of room, and will get you out of most situations. Add to that a few hoses and jubilee clips Quote
Westfieldman Posted May 17, 2003 Author Posted May 17, 2003 Green flag don't cover "Q" plated cars in Europe or the UK. Paul. Quote
Mark Stanton Posted May 17, 2003 Posted May 17, 2003 Nope Greenflag don't but not all our kits were Q plated and the AA and RAC do provide some cover, none of any use though. Whenever I've been over have always had the fortune of a back-up vehicle, luggage / spares carrier Landrover Discovery and Volvo Estate Needed it last time in 97 as there were over 20 of us *hic* Quote
S8ight Posted May 17, 2003 Posted May 17, 2003 who's your insurance with ? Footman James give you european breakdown cover as standard. also what if you tell the RAC it was a factory built car ? surelly it isnt a kit car then ? Quote
Westfieldman Posted May 17, 2003 Author Posted May 17, 2003 Hill House Hammond my insurers told me that they have a deal with Green flag for £67.00 per year that includes european cover but Green flag said no "Q" plates so will ring HHH on monday to see if they cover "Q" plates Rang AA and moned they are going to have a look into it.
