Buzz Billsberry Posted January 30, 2002 Posted January 30, 2002 Westfield Sportscars have announced that they now have a secure server on their website allowing you to order parts online. A range of parts are already available (that will fit other kits as well as Westfields) and more will be made available in the next few months. www.westfield-sportscars.co.uk Buzz:cool: Quote

furtive Posted February 4, 2002 Posted February 4, 2002 Firstly, apologies about the length of this post. Right, I wasn't going to post this here, but it doesn't look like Westfield are going to give me the courtesy of a reply. After I posted my (tongue in cheek) comment above, I got this personal message from Chris Smith: > Let us know what you want. > If we can make it we will. > Chris Smith > Chairman > Westfield Sportscars I replied saying that I will be contacting them shortly for some parts, such as an RAC roll bar, and thought nothing more about it. However, I then received a call on my mobile phone (no idea where they got my number from - the Data Protection Act springs to mind here). The guy on the phone said that they were calling to do a "customer satisfaction survey" but all of a sudden he got all nasty, mentioned my above post on this forum and and had a go at me for posting that their online store doesn't list parts for narrow-bodied cars. They said that my comment was un-necessary and damaging as they do supply narrow bodied parts but the logistics of listing them on the website is too great. He basically had a go at me for posting what was just a throw away comment about not being able to purchase parts online if you have a narrow-bodied car, and I thought the call was unnessasary. Therefore, I sent this to Chris Smith via email: > Chris > > I just recieved a phone call from someone at Westfield > claiming to be doing a "customer relations survey". The > conversation started out nicely, with them asking me in > what ways Westfield could help me but then turned > decidedly nasty when they started saying that my > comments on the WSCC website were unnessarary and > damaging to Westfield. I didn't like the tone he was taking, > and I certainly don't appreciate being telephoned out of the > blue and someone having a pop at me. Is this the sort of > customer relations Westfield wants? I may have purchased > a second-hand Westfield, but that is not to say that I > won't want to buy a new one in the future - either a > factory built car or a kit, but with customer service that > has been shown to me this morning, maybe I should > reconsider and shop elsewhere. > > My comment on the WSCC was not a jibe at Westfield, it > was merely a comment on the original post that stated that > Westfield parts could now be purchased online. It still > stands that if you own a narrow-bodied car like I do that > parts cannot be viewed or purchased on-line. I don't have a > problem phoning the factory to purchase parts and I intend > to make some considerable purchaches in the near future. > > I am amazed that a company would call one of it's > customers to have a pop at them - this hardly strikes me as > professional. And if you want to know what I think of the > service that the factory provides, I'd have to say it was > less than satisfactory. > > My father called before Christmas asking for a merchandise > catalogue so he could buy me a Christmas present. He was > sent a parts catalogue. He then got repeated letters and > phone calls asking if he wanted a tour of the factory before > buying his kit. > > I recently ordered some suspension bolts, nuts, washers, > and some rod-ends. I received the bolts and rod ends, but > not only 2 nuts instead of 4, and no washers. I now have > the bolts but the washers never showed up. I can't believe > that it is hard to count to 4 when putting nuts in a jiffy bag. > > I wasn't an aggreved customer, and the two above cases > wouldn't have bothered me if it wasn't for the nasty phone > call I just received. > > I look forward to your prompt reply to my comments. I will > not be posting anything about this matter on the WSCC > forum and await your reply. > > Regards I am yet to have a reply to my email, which is why I have decided to post it here. I know the factory read this forum as they have already sent me a message about it, and phoned me up about it. I am amazed that a business that wants my business would call me and have a go at me. I can only assume that they are loaded down with wealth and don't need any of my money. Anyway, enough ranting, I'd like to hear your comments on this matter, and Chris Smith, if you are out there - please respond either publicly or privately. Quote
Peter Cox Posted February 4, 2002 Posted February 4, 2002 I can hear your mobile ringing right now from where I sit. Quote
Nick M Posted February 4, 2002 Posted February 4, 2002 If it's not furtive's mobile ringing then it's probably going to be that of one of the WSCC committee members.... Be interesting to see what response, if any, we get on here. My bet would be "none at all" or we see this thread get pulled, resulting in a whole new "Big Brother" thread.... Hope I'm proved wrong though. Quote
Jon Murray Posted February 4, 2002 Posted February 4, 2002 Furtive, I fully agree with you that your original comment appeared to be "tongue in cheek" - that's certainly how I read it, and you're correct in that it is factually correct. I can see no way that it could be damaging to Westfield. I don't think Chris Smith thought so either, he even sent you a message offering to fabricated parts specifically for your narrow bodied car. Clearly (from what you say) the guy who rang you was a bit out of order and I too would have been annoyed. However, I have to take issue with the speed with which you have posted your second message after stating to Chris Smith that you would not discuss this issue on the WSCC boardroom. Let's look at the timescales and likely order of events: 1) Wednesday 30/1/02 at 2.02pm You post you original message. 2) Chris Smith or somebody at Westfield reads it. 3) Message from Chris Smith sent to you. 4) You pick up message from Chris Smith. 5) You reply saying you will be buying some parts - probably a RAC rollbar. 6) Phone call from chap at Westfield. 7) You e-mail Chris Smith stating your grievances and also state that you won't post anything about this on the WSCC site. 8) Weekend in between. 9) By Monday 4/2/02 lunchtime (12:55pm) , you have posted your grievances on the boardroom. Now, being conservative and counting half of last Wednesday and half of today (Monday) as one working day, this whole episode has gone on for only three working days! Also, you don't state when you e-mailed Chris Smith - it could have been Friday for all I know, let's face it steps (2) to (6) had to happen before you sent your e-mail to Chris Smith and it's improbable that all that happened last Wednesday afternoon. Give the guys at Westfield a chance - I have received nothing but excellent service from them. Chris might have taken a couple of days off last week and has only just read your e-mail to him. Nick M Posted February 4, 2002 Posted February 4, 2002 Furtive response would, however, seem to be about as quick as that from Westfield in the form of the phone call to berate him for saying nasty things about them..... Maybe Furtive was a bit quick off the mark in posting the issue here, but it doesn't take away the fact that Westfield behaved at best in a peculiar manner and at worst in a wholly unprofessional one. There are other issues relating to how Westfield managed to contact Furtive which would give an indication of how serious and keen they were about getting in touch with him. Quote
Jon Murray Posted February 4, 2002 Posted February 4, 2002 Hi Nick, I agree with you, the way Westfield contacted Furtive seems, from what he says, less than professional. I work as a consultant and use e-mail every minute of every day of my working life (as I'm sure a lot of people here do). The thing is - in this electronic age, we all expect instant replies to e-mails (I know my clients do). But if you have a long weekend or a day off, the proverbial hits the fan when you get back! I'm only trying to throw this potential perspective of the situation into the arena. Jon Quote
Mark Stanton Posted February 4, 2002 Posted February 4, 2002 Hello folks - just got back from a month of warm sunny weather without any westfield stuff and back to good old blighty. Seems some things never change Will be booking my next holiday very soon. Quote
Boyband_Pete Posted February 4, 2002 Posted February 4, 2002 Can't bleave, this has not been pulled by the powers that be. Sorry I have to say that, I have to had a few closed doors when talking to the factory. I saw last summer at Mallory Park the 2 new orange Bike engine race cars. I inquired about the half doors they had fitted, to them. I wanted to have some, but no, "sorry it is a one off". I offered to order 5 pairs as I know a few people who would like them, No! It does make you think I wish I had a wide body car (but that is what they want I guess). Sorry to say, Westfield now want to go the c******m route, selling lots of new shiny cars, factory built etc. However, with a c******m, you can say I want X: they will say of course, Hang on we will get you a price Go down the road, get some one else to make to at a price of Z. Come back that will Z + Large mark up = Y Custermer Happy Factory Happy Is this going in? Quote
Nick M Posted February 4, 2002 Posted February 4, 2002 Jon - fair point - I know only too well what you mean about e-mails generating the need for an immediate response !! Mr Stanton - you can run, but you can't hide.... Quote
Westfieldman Posted February 4, 2002 Posted February 4, 2002 Why not ask via this forum and the order book, stores invoices what the most popular parts for a narrow boddied car are, add this to the web page and put a note on the bottom saying please E-mail any other enquiries to stores@westfield and then E-mail pictures to the potential customer to look at before buying this should also be possiable for the current cars and for build enquiries photos and text for the most asked questions. At the moment its look at other peoples web pages and some of these have been questioned/sensored my big brother. Quote
furtive Posted February 4, 2002 Posted February 4, 2002 I have now received an email from Chris Smith explaining the situation and apologising for the phone call. I consider this matter now closed. Quote
juansolo Posted February 4, 2002 Posted February 4, 2002 ...and how easy would it have been for a Westfield representative to post a reply to Furtive's one liner saying something along the lines of 'If you call us we can supply parts for narrow bodied cars'? All of this could have been avoided. I'm sorry but the only people who are making Westfield look bad here are the Westfield themselves. Quote
