hundleydavid Posted May 22, 2004 Posted May 22, 2004 Good day to everyone.. So, I am looking to buy a 91 SEi down the road from me. The mechanics are great, but i have noticed that the chassis, has surface rust, which looks like the paint etc that coated it. SO I need to know, if A: this is a problem but also is it possible to re coat it, with wax oil etc? Also, the seats need re doing in leather, can anyone recomend a good supplier? Kind Regards Quote
JonnyBoy Posted May 22, 2004 Posted May 22, 2004 surface rust is fine, you can always clean it up and repaint with hammerite or similar. I'd be looking for cracked welds and more severe rust/ structural frame issues really. Quote
perksy Posted May 22, 2004 Posted May 22, 2004 Chassis can be Treated with POR 15 OR Eastwood Rust Encapsulator. These offer better Resisitance to chipping than Hammerite. You can then spray with Waxoyl for even better protection if you want. As for the upholstery, perhaps have a look in yellow pages or similar and get this done local to you ? Quote
