List 1b tyres - vehicle registration date etc.

Not strictly a Speed Series question but hopefully those in the know might be looking here.

 

So, list 1b has a number of tyres annotated that are designated only for use on vehicles registered before 1/10/90. There is a bit of ambiguity in that it talks about tyres "designed" for use on vehicles registered before the relevant date but then goes on to say that they will only be valid for vehicles registered before the relevant date. Not strictly the same thing. However...............

 

I've recently (in the couple of weekends) seen some cars running the annotated tyres on cars that are clearly registered post 1.10.90. and they are run by people I would generally expect to be S*** hot on the MSUK rules.

 

The question therefore is, what do they know that I don't? Is anyone aware of any MSUK rulings or other precedents that could be in play?

Because Westfield & Caterham 7 type design models were originally made before 1990 they qualify to use these tyres is the ruling has been given by MSUK.
