PCP Scammers

I've just had an obvious scam text offering me a PCP refund on my beemer.  But it included my registration number. How have the scumbags got this and linked it to my phone number? Any ideas welcome....

They've likely bought lists of reg numbers/mobile numbers etc off the dark web. Your details could have been leaked from numerous sources that have had your information, dealers, tyre garages, breakdown companies, insurance companies etc.

Thanks Ian. You're probably right. I've recently had scam WhatsApps too, with both my name and the date and place of a Best Western I've booked. That was a known data breach, but this one isn't. Barstewards
