I never fitted them to mine in the end (plans for an aeroscreen project that didn't happen) but I was intending to put them direct on the scuttle. They may well go into the uprights though, but I can't confirm that. Fitting is a single 6mm (ish) bolt, with a small rubber disc either side to hold position once tightened up. Pic below...
