Boftus Posted 23 hours ago Posted 23 hours ago To those that provide many hours organising such events. I am planning what i can attend this year as there seem to be many clashes with local shows and personal plans already. i think this time last year, there was info already announced regarding the national show, but it is likely that i am wrong about that lol is the WSCC still planning to do the usual big show at this event? also wondered if there are any plans for the new Stoneleigh Selfbuild/Kit show? We may start earlier this year but are constrained by Grosvenor Show, as they don't supply information of confirmation of our plot etc until then. Great to read you're keen to support. 1 1 Quote

I appreciate it will not be you guys delaying sending info out. But, with there being a new show at Stoneleigh, i wasn't sure if there might be a switch for WSCC main show attendance. Malvern is a great venue, but Stoneleigh is more central and closer to me i would probably only be able to do the Saturday at either venue this year as Malvern is a trek and Stoneleigh clashes with Kimbolton Country Fayre (which is the best mixed car show in the East Midlands/East Anglia region that that i organise a WSCC stand for at least 6 cars (massive effort ) (more should attend!)) I believe the promo on here started in Jan last year 1 Quote

In order to prevent the club having poor relations with them due to my “thoughts and experiences”, I shall refrain from sharing them - colourful as they are. Stoneleigh is a LOT closer for me (5 miles!), but there has to be a question mark over it at the moment. Those of you familiar will know that HS2 is going straight through the showground and has been causing local traffic issues for years. They are currently reworking the road outside the showground entrance substantially. By that, I mean that road is currently completely shut between Stoneleigh village and Blackdown. Will they get it done in time? I’m not betting on it. 1 Quote
Boftus Posted 18 hours ago Author Posted 18 hours ago I did not know that about Stoneleigh, that would be a real shame for the shows 'first run' if access is not available. Hopefully they can get something sorted. Quote
Steve G. Posted 14 hours ago Posted 14 hours ago Race Retro is on soon. There is still the rally stage area but it's to the right of the main hall as you walk up to it, not sure how much of the site is left where the main kit car show areas were. Hoping it won't be cancelled due to the rain again this year. Quote

Maybe somebody from the club could reach out to Simon via his email (on this link) and see what info he has about the road issue? https://carshowco.com/replica/ Quote

I live locally as I’ve said before, and it changes weekly and without warning. Keep your fingers crossed is my advice. They’re building a huge bridge right outside the Stoneleigh exit, which I presume is to allow HS2 to go underneath the reworked roadway and through the northern section on the showground. One week the road is open, the next week it’s closed. What I do know is that there’s no signs warning you it’s closed until you’re almost on top of it and you have to make a 3-point turn on a B-road. HS2 around here is pretty much a law unto themselves. The road between Leamington and Southam was supposed to be replaced with a temporary road right up until a fortnight before tunneling work began, then HS2 said it wasn’t possible (cost - yeah, right) and shut the road for 18 months requiring a 10 mile diversion. Are you and @Ian Kinder (Bagpuss) - Joint Peak District AO working together?!? Btw, you’d be amazed what you can access and get away with while wearing a hi-viz. I also recommend a “Motorway Maintenance” sticker on the back of your car and an amber light for beating motorway traffic jams. (I never worked in road maintenance, but it works.) 2 Quote

I don't want the Captain wandering around outside. He's far too useful sat at his keyboard keeping the forum and our membership happy! 1 1 Quote
