John Dolan - Wirral & North Wales AO Posted January 11 Posted January 11 We will be visiting the Anderton Boat Lift on the 17th May. We will have a display area reserved for our Westfields, there is a nice cafe for breakfast and canal boat rides are available if you fancy something a bit more leisurely. Please let me know if you can attend so we can ensure we have enough spaces reserved. Anderton Boat Lift, Lift Lane, Anderton, Northwich, Cheshire, CW9 6FW. 4 Quote

Stuart Posted January 11 Posted January 11 Always wanted to visit this but it's a tad far from Hampshire in a Westy..... 1 Quote
BobMet Posted January 12 Posted January 12 Looks interesting, but just seen this on their web site: "Please note: The lift is currently closed due to a fault discovered during routine maintenance. It will reopen once repair works are complete, expected early 2027. Keep an eye on this page for updates on the repairs." https://canalrivertrust.org.uk/things-to-do/museums-and-attractions/anderton-boat-lift-and-visitor-centre-cheshire 1 Quote

John Dolan - Wirral & North Wales AO Posted January 15 Author Posted January 15 No event, sorry. The lift is not in service due to a mechanical fault and will not be operating again this year. Still should be an interesting visit. Quote
DannyTGS Posted January 15 Posted January 15 Having living almost in view of the lift I’ve seen it in action although I never took my boat on it, Still down for a meet and possibly drive out in the area 1 Quote

Absolutely stunning feat of engineering. I recall chatting to one of its operators about the costs of spare parts and maintenance. I was told the hydraulic rams had been replaced at a cost of over one million pounds. Produced in Italy apparently… 1 1 Quote
