cashy Posted May 2, 2004 Posted May 2, 2004 Can someone Confirm, is it definately AV in that i need to run a bullet camera or is it analogue in? Thanks Quote
DavidC Posted May 2, 2004 Posted May 2, 2004 AV in. Have a search on eBay for Canon Outlet. They've got lots of Canon MV500i, 430i etc cameras that all have AV In. I believe all the canons with an 'i' on the end have AV in. The prices are seriously good too (£179), tho the cams are recon'd units. DC Sod it, did it for you. Here you go http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Canon-Outlet Quote
Persil Posted May 2, 2004 Posted May 2, 2004 Im sure for Bullet Cams you need analogue in not DV in . Check here . Linkage Persil Aslo check here and here Quote
DavidC Posted May 3, 2004 Posted May 3, 2004 Or the 1st question on the Rf Concepts FAQ http://www.rfconcepts.co.uk/helmet-cam_faq.htm It says AV in (which I think is the analogue in) Quote
cashy Posted May 3, 2004 Author Posted May 3, 2004 Excellent, I thought AV in was another conenction other than the yellow and white analogu on my camera, according to the rf conc site i can fit a bullet cam no problems. Good news Quote
cashy Posted May 3, 2004 Author Posted May 3, 2004 Once ive recorded my in car footage using the bullet cam im about to buy how do i get it onto pc to make up some mpegs. My camera does not have DV in/out sockets...? Quote
adhawkins Posted May 3, 2004 Posted May 3, 2004 Is it a digital video camera, or analogue? If it's digital, it should have connections for connecting to a PC, usually either USB or Firewire. If it's analogue, you'll need an analogue capture card. These vary in cost, depending on what quality you want. A simple one will cost about 30 quid (most TV tuner cards will do it), but if you want full resolution expect to spend something like 100 quid to do the job. Andy Quote
Persil Posted May 3, 2004 Posted May 3, 2004 Sounds like you have analogue. Have a look here for cards to do the job.. Also video editing eats hard drive space so if you have a basic pc then maybe look at an upgrade and some large hard drives . Regards Persil Quote
cashy Posted May 3, 2004 Author Posted May 3, 2004 Thanks Andy, The camera is a few years old now and is a JVC GR-FXM270 with 600 times digi zoom. Connections on the side are: yellow socket White socket power dc in and JLIP (looks like a walkman headphone sized socket) It sounds like i will need a capture card for my pc, i take it this is the same as a tv tuner card? Sorry for the questions, im just clueless when it comes to av stuff. adrian Quote
adhawkins Posted May 3, 2004 Posted May 3, 2004 The yellow and white sockets on your camera will almost certainly be outputs. You're unlikely to be able to plug a bullet camera into these. You really need to check the manual for your camera. A tuner card will usually double as a capture card. However, if you want good quality (higher resolution capture), you'll need to spend a little more. Andy Quote
Persil Posted May 3, 2004 Posted May 3, 2004 As Andy said it does not sound like you have AV/Composite in so no bullet cam im afraid . I had a search for your camcorder but got 0 results on the JVC webbys. Depends if you really want a bullet cam but looks like you might need a new camcorder . Or use what you have with some type of mount than get an analogue video editing card ...Although i dont think camcorders stand up to alot of abuse when mounted on roll bars and stuff. Or maybe sell the camera you have (Ebay?) and buy a JVC GR-D70 which has all the options you need. Regards Persil Quote
adhawkins Posted May 3, 2004 Posted May 3, 2004 Although i dont think camcorders stand up to alot of abuse when mounted on roll bars and stuff. Nope. Depends on how heavy they are. I know of at least one that has 'bent' the camera's tripod mount inside the camera. I think the camera is still Ok though. Andy Quote
