Clamshell front wings?

Does anyone still make/offer clamshell style front wings for the Westfield?

 

If they are available, do they cover the tires if you are using a wide track front end? I have the Siltech +35mm widetrack and it would be good to know of the clamshells would cover the tires.

 

FWIW I have a 2014 Mega S2000.

I’m not sure they’re still made. They had to pretty much break the moulds out of long term storage when I bought mine, nearly ten years ago. In addition I believe the jigs for the front mounting brackets went awol, possibly when the old factory went into administration.

 

When I originally was planning the order for mine, I asked Simon Westwood if the flared wings worked with factory wide track and the answer was officially no, it doesn’t cover the tops of the tyres (205/50 15”, or 195/59 15” on 7” Team Dynamic wheels with the recommended Mega S2000 front offset.

 

However, in reality, it was more granular than that, as suspension settings and tyre brand (and hence profile of the tyres shoulders) play a big part, but I get it, the factory had to play it safe, advice wise.

 

With either 205 or 195 tyres on my front Team Dynamics, 1.25 degrees camber, and about 5 mins toe out, the tyres would actually have been covered with factory wide track, just. I suspect with the Siltech extra wide, the 195’s may just have been ok, but the 205’s might have struggled. Though of course, using a tyre that likes camber, like an R888R, and more like 1.75 degrees camber, you might manage it. It’ll probably be close though! Or of course, a narrower front tyre, like a 185, or even 175 on a 13” x 6” wheel could give you more room to work with.
