HANS Device

Question for the track day goers amongst us, do you wear a HANS device when on track?

After my recent cycling accident, I am thinking of purchasing one to make things as safe as possible when on track. My helmet has HANS mounting posts so I think it is a no brainer really…

I do. Can be a bit of a faff if you don't have 2 inch hans harnesses. I have a schroth one. Fits well. My advice would be to go and try one on. I got mine from rallynuts because I could try different sizes

YES     you can't imagine how much the body will stretch/deform under accident conditions

Long before hans, a friend got punted into the wall in an RX-7.  When we belted him in, helmet could not get close to the roll cage, maybe 3-4" clearance

He got a concussion and cracked helmet

2 years ago at a vintage race, some dolt in a formula ford tried to win the race in turn one, first lap

took out at least 2 others, one of which went OVER the tire wall, which is not close to the track

absolutely totaled the car, but driver walked away with bruises and cracked helmet, thanks to HANS

This is what I run… you put a lot of money into the car, track days and your personal safety should come first.

Yes take some getting used to, but after watching club motor sport and if it goes wrong your head is a dead weight and over extension of your neck is game over!

It also pins you in your seat a lot better. B9C70738-32CA-446B-809A-24CECC589481.thumb.jpeg.0cc3cf9fbf80a7735293fb20090916ed.jpeg
