StevieG Posted August 26 Posted August 26 I bought my car last Easter, and ideally all I'm interested in at the moment are nice fun rides out with the family. Although I'm a massive motorsport fan, I've worked too hard to get this car to potentially ruin it on track, or worse, stuff it in a wall! That said, I'd love to explore more of the cars (and my) limits, without being too stupid on the road. My logic being to understand more of the limits, then knowing to reign it back in for a bit of margin. I'm thinking a nice open space would be a great place to play. Back in my Lotus days there used to be companies that used to specialise in car handling days at big open airfields. Is there anywhere that specialises in our cars that anyone may have been to and can recommend? Quote
Rob Hunter - Club Secretary Posted August 26 Posted August 26 The only one I know if is AW Driver Training, I've not used him but he knows his stuff. Track days are a good way of safely exploring the car. Curborough is quite low speed and Blyton has huge run offs (ex airfield). I enjoy Donington too, very wide lots of run off, and never feels crowded on track Quote
StevieG Posted August 26 Author Posted August 26 Thanks Rob. AW. Im assuming that's Andy Walsh, who used to run Carlimits. Both based at North Weald, although Google suggests Carlimits no longer operates. I remember that name from back in the day. Interesting to get your thoughts on track days too. Thanks! 1 Quote

Yes, the very same. He's still using North Weald, I follow him on Facebook and YouTube. There's a few of us doing the Donington track evening on Monday, you're more than welcome to come along and get a feel for it. The Warwickshire day at Curborough is also great fun even as a spectator. Quote
StevieG Posted August 26 Author Posted August 26 Appreciate that Rob, thanks. Will have to check availability. 1 Quote

Flying Carrot Steve Posted August 26 Posted August 26 Try a track day at Keevil. It's an old airfield, massively wide track and absolutely nothing to hit for miles around. It's about the perfect place to find the limits safely. Plenty of vids on YouTube I'm sure. Keevil track days - Motorsport Events https://share.google/zsykTKPB528k8LGUO 2 Quote

Im glad mine doesn't handle like that at the limit or I'd have exited stage right very quickly 😂 1 Quote

All I'm doing is copying the share link from YouTube, no different than I've always done. Quote

Biggest worry is that people don’t actually press them very often! Ah sorry I’ve since read to the end of the feed this is already been answered. 1 1 Quote
Rusty Nuts Posted August 29 Posted August 29 Hi @StevieG the Curborough Sprint School has a training day at the Curborough Sprint Circuit, not too far for you. the next one is on the 4th of September. If you want to message me I can share a phone number with you - offers a bit more of a professional training session. Otherwise there is the Warwick track day at Curborough I think mentioned by Martyn - this is a very friendly well organised day, can recommend as have attended many times. 2 Quote
