Good to know the chinese Helicoil are as good as the branded stuff, as I've used them on the whole exhaust side of the 1.8t cylinder head 😄

Back in my air cooled VW days it was really common to helicoil (or equivalent) the highly stressed threaded holes in the aluminium block whether they needed it or not as a preventative measure.

It's not unusual. Hispec do it with the current aluminium front uprights as part of their manufacturing process.
