Hi Guys

Looking to buy a cheap and chearfull DVD player and want to know what features are important and usefull, and which are gimmicks.

Any recommendations in the sub £100 bracket?

P.S. I have a decent HiFi that I can plug into for sound, as I already do this with my video.

Get yourself to Scan! & order one of theirs.  They play EVERYTHING VCD, DVD, CD, CD-R, DVD-R, MPEG, Div-X.

I think they are £100 oh & of course multi-region

They are in the "today only" section so if you buy it today it's cheaper than tomorrow!

Nearly forgot, you could try Richer Sounds as well they are good.

IMHO .... DON'T buy from Scan.

They're a bunch of thieving wotsits and I could rant all day about their bad practices (apolgies to anyone who works for them)

Go to Richer Sounds. Multi region 'Limit' player they have on offer ATM is sound as a pound, packed with features and for the price of a few beers you can add in their 3 year buy back guarantee.

Everyone I know who has one "raves" about them.

I don't have one myself but I would buy one of them if I needed it or one from Richer sounds

Also this one is meant to be good Special Price

have a cheap 'CYBER' multi region one at home (Richer Sounds - a very good company to deal with IMHO) and it works fine for the guest room - I have a posh Sony one for downstairs  ;)

I have an LG one that was part of a package, TV, VCR and DVD.

Their stuff is very good value and well worth a look.

Thanks for advice guys.

We have had a good look at them all and reckon we will go for the Cyberhome one (link from MikeDB).

Has anyone ordered through 'SpecialReserve' before?

woohoo, I win! :p

I know people who have ordered from them but again, not myself.  Heard no complaints though :)

dont buy the cyber home. theyre not very good.

go to ritcher sounds get a toshiba SD220, should cost you about £130 for a multi region one. you wont get a better quality DVD player unless you spend about £400 upwards.

what sort of telly have you got ? you wont really notice the extra quality of the 220 though unless you have a good flat screen telly

Too late, just placed my order.

Telly is a Mitsubishi, and still going strong after ten years.

Will be looking to upgrade to all singing and dancing unit in a couple of years, so didn't want to spend a great deal at the moment.

Thanks for all your help guys.
