Jaime Ward Posted July 6 Posted July 6 Found myself with a bit of a problem with Avon being out of buisness and imagine I’m not the only one with the same issue. Currently running Avon ZZS’s, 185/55R13 on the front and 245/50R13 on the rears (mounted to 11 inch wide rims). MOT is due in a few weeks, and have a couple of track days planned beforehand, and think my current tyres will end up being close to the limit. I could get another set of wheels to suit a set of AR-1s but really don’t want to drop down to 9inch rears, or fork out to have a set made to match the current offsets etc. One thing I’ve thought of possibly doing is getting a set of used slicks/wets from tyretek and saving the ZZS’s for road use, but not sure about suspension setup and the changes I’d need to make between the slicks and road tyres. Any suggestions or any inside info on whether Nova are going to soon put ZZS’s back into production? Or anyone with a set of 245’s with lots of life left in them that they would part ways with? 😉 Cheers -Jaime Quote
Rob Hunter - Club Secretary Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago Pardon the expression, but wow that's a wide rear! I run a staggered 13x6 and 13x8 set up on my Mega S2000 and also love the ZZS as a great all rounder (work well as a track wet and every day road tyre). The widest 13 inch semi slicks I know of are the Kumho v70a in 235/45, the Nankang AR1 in 235/45 and R888R in 225/45.... unfortunately all are a bit of a stretch on an 11inch rim. I've used the Kumho in 235/45 (plus the ZZS and ZZR in 215/55) and it is a great tyre, comparable to the ZZR in the dry and better than the ZZS in the wet (but I'm no Max Verstappen!). Interestingly, Waltham Services are now listing the Nova ZZS in 185/55r13 on eBay so they may be worth a call to see if they have other sizes back in? Good luck! Quote
