I'm intrigued. Do you have an age related plate indicating the year 2009, or is it related to the age of the engine?

Pre registered with an age related plate as a 2009 car with one refurbished part - the engine - otherwise all new.
joolz Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago You see this is what I don't understand .. this is the rules as far as I can work out If the engine is older than the vehicle Vehicle first used before Sept 1, 2002: The car is tested to the emissions standards that apply to the age of the engine. You must have proof of the engine's age to present to the testing station. Example: A 1995 car fitted with a 1991 engine will be tested to 1991 emissions standards. If the engine is newer than the vehicle Vehicle first used on or after Sept 1, 2002: The car will be tested to the emissions standards of the vehicle's age, not the engine's. So how do they get away with no cat test? If it's a 2009 car you need a cat test ? I'm obviously missing something :shout: Martyn Vann can you shed any light on it ? 1
Martyn Vann - Warwickshire AO Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago The answer is in my emissions flow chart in the FAQ general info. This also based on chart 2 of the gaseous emissions section of the manual. If you look at either of these flow charts you will see a pre 1st Aug 1995 date that leads to a non cat test. This is what DVSA have used at IVA to assign the emissions standard to the engine fitted to a 'new' kit car. I believe that Westfield Sportscars were supplied with new V8 engines manufactured before the 1995 date to fit to the factory built Seights for many years into this century. This has been investigated by Phil @RickRack for his car.
