Can anyone help with alloy or stainless rear arch protectors... money waiting. (Not carbon or tupperware carbon lookalike please).
SouthhamsChris Posted June 27 Posted June 27 I think you have an early fixed arch widebody car like I used to have not a narrow body car. You have cut outs for the rear lights and shoulders. This may make your search easier, poss trim ZK protector, ideally trial one and see if it fits. I made my arch protectors from 1 mm aluminium. From the photos it looks like the top of the rear of the tub is sloping, if so it may have broken away from the rivets underneath holding it on to the chassis, quiet common if carrying a spare wheel. Best have a look and check. I've had to reattach the rear of the tub on three cars. I went to Shelsey a few months ago, absolutely loved it. Best of luck with your plans👍

SouthhamsChris Posted June 28 Posted June 28 You usually find six rivets with penny washers, three each side on the bottom lip. 1

Well, that was a good call. Out of the six rivets I think that only one was doing anything. On this side they seem totally misaligned. I don't know if the tub moved when they sheared or whether they never lined up. Do I redrill the holes or try to get the tub back into position, I wonder? 1
SouthhamsChris Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago It's a very common problem when I reattached mine I used a trolly jack and a piece of wood, carefully realigned and drilled out the old rivet. As stated before I used penny washers as well to spread the load. It's not surprising the rivets snap really with the load on them. 1
