I have an SE with 2ltr Pinto with alternator fitted. Yesterday my fanbelt gave up the ghost and removed itself from the engine while.

After 2 trips to Halfords and one to the local parts factor I still haven't ended up with a fanbelt that fits. The "correct" one for a Granada is to long and the alternator hits the chassis way before the belt is anything like tight enough.

So here's the question, which fanbelt are folks using on their 2ltr Pinto equipped SEs?

Thanks

Might be worth making one of approximately the right length out of a bit of string, then take the said string to the motor factors and get them to get one the right length....

Thought of that, and tried it at Halfords but there was a gap in the rack and the belts before the gap are too short, after the gap too long .

In the factors they are all in the store. Don't think I'd be best pleased if I was behind a counter and someone said please go sort through all your fanbelts for one this size :-)

Is my last resort though.

The designation numbers are the length in millimetres

Just checked my 2.0l Pinto belt on my SEiW and it's 10F825. The alternator type may cause some variations of course. Hope this helps.

Good motor factors shouldn't mind.  I usualy spend ages trying to remeber what part it was I went in there for in the first place, and they usualy have to go and look several times.  They must be fed up with me by now :D

IIRC, my Cossie uses a Mk2 Fester fan belt.........

I've got a Halfords HB887a fitted, that's using Westfield's alternator brackets.

Halfrauds HB 813 on a 1991 se with 2l Pinto.  This size was almost impossible to fit but gives a little more clearance between the alternator and chassis than the 825

Not sure about your halfords but mine is about as usefull as choclate teapot, Motor factors are better.

My 2,0l uses a mini alternator and a mini fan belt it is a little bit of a sqeeze to git it over the top pulley but once on gives plenty of clearence to the chassis

Good Luck
