Long shot, but I'm in desperate need of set of steel spring caps that match the original cap dimensions, so that they match with the QED supplied double valve springs.

QED are awaiting stock, but this has been a while now.

Unless someone can confirm if the Piper or Kent ones are same dimensions?

Cheers

The fitted height of the spring is often the problem with swapping retainers between manufacturers. QED's springs used to have a quite short fitted height whereas Piper spring was longer so their caps were different to accommodate this. I believe that QED's latest spec for springs is taller than before so that might open up a wider choice for you.

KGP do a set at a reasonable price and Pogo's titanium versions are not far off what QED want for steel.

Any manufacturer/retailer should be able to tell you what fitted height the caps suit and what diameter springs will fit too.

I would avoid Turbosport. Most of their stuff is spot on but I had a set of caps that were all over the place dimensionally. I was probably unlucky and got a mix of batches but it put me off buying again.

QED fitted length is misleading, as their website says one thing and then the box they come in say different.

I think they're close to the piper cams fitted length now.

I've ordered caps and springs from Piper Cams, so hopefully they'll be here in the next day or so?

I used POGO for the vernier pulleys. They seem very well made, but with customs, it took ages for them to arrive at my door.

Turbosport - I'm having issues with him as I purchased the solid lifters, and only 2 would fit! Returned them and he is refusing full refund as he says its something I've done????

Clearly they're machined incorrectly as they slide in 1/3rd of the way and then get stuck....

He says he won't refund them as they have marks on them and can't sell them on again! I said you can't sell them on again as they're no good!!!!

I'm hoping I'll get a call from QED to say the caps are in stock in the next few days then I'll return the Piper ones when they arrive?

Nothing is straight forward 🙄

QED website is showing the fitted height for the previous "MKI" springs. Good springs but they were limited on valve lift at 0.450" so that's presumably part of the reason that they have changed the spec.

I've used Turbosport lifters on a number of occasions and they've always been fine. With all types you sometimes get one or two that are a bit tighter in the bores than the others but if the majority are the same then there is clearly a manufacturing issue.

Can't go wrong with Piper stuff, I'm currently using their springs. Pricey but a good deal can be had from Anderson Race Engines. ARE lifters are good too.

Funnily enough, I now have the Anderson solid lifters. All fitted an absolute treat.
