Steve G. Posted March 15 Posted March 15 I'm considering a few options for ways to store my Westfield and along with building a wooden shed I wondered about using an enclosed trailer. I considered an insulated shipping container but can't find anyone who could deliver it where I want it on my driveway. Damp/condensation is my main concern. Has anyone used a trailer to store their car and found the inside of the trailer turns tropical in cold wet weather ? Quote
mega ade Posted March 15 Posted March 15 Go carcoon keeps it dry ventilated no moisture charges the battery as well like an optimate they really work well car comes out after winter storage as it went in not even rusty discs go to carcoon website have a look. 1 Quote

CosKev Posted March 15 Posted March 15 Insurance would be the main concern, I can't see Insurance companies covering theft if you've stored the car in a trailer ready to be towed away! Quote

Expand The plan would be to remove the A frame and the wheels so it could only be moved when I wanted to. It seems it's almost impossible to find a genuine trailer for sale so worrying about it being damp might not be important. 1 Quote
Ewan Posted March 17 Posted March 17 I bought my Westie with a covered trailer. But I’ve not used the trailer in maybe 5 years, as the car is in a garage at my home, while the trailer is in a warehouse where I work. So given I’ve not needed/used it in all that time, it might make sense for me to sell it. (The owner before me kept the car under a fitted cover, in the covered trailer, in a heated warehouse. For 15 years. And didn’t ever use it. Go figure!) Quote
Steve G. Posted March 18 Author Posted March 18 Thanks Ewan. I've got a car tent but that suffers with condensation, OK to put the Westfield in if it starts raining but it isn't secure enough to leave in there. I think a trailer will only work if it has a fixed roof and sides, more secure (if I disable the trailer in some way) but wasn't sure how much insulation the glass fibre roof and walls offer. I don't think the box van style ones are great as the roof panels are quite thin. Quote
joolz Posted March 18 Posted March 18 I keep My Tuscan Challenge car in a covered trailer all year round on a storage site, I've never noticed any condensation in it. The very nature of the heavy canvas structure means it's not air-tight therefore has air blowing through it, which is good. The only downside is it's not rodent proof either, so my worry would not be condensation but more like wiring and seats nibbled .. ! It hasn't happened yet with the car, but our caravan fell victim to mice last year. Quote
neptune Posted March 18 Posted March 18 The cover on my trailer is made from the pvc stuff hgv curtain sides are made from and it sweats really badly over winter. I store spare wheels amongst other stuff and they get very wet. Quote
Steve G. Posted March 19 Author Posted March 19 Thanks for the replies. If anyone has an enclosed trailer with an access door on the side I might be interested but think I will have to build something. Quote
