S2T Posted March 4 Posted March 4 Although a technical question probably more appropriate in here. What is the difference in handling using radial or crossply tyres. Curious as can get crossply to 'play' with prior to using radials Quote
Smudge62 Posted March 4 Posted March 4 Steve, I believe but stand to be corrected that the camber set up of your car would need to be different for each type. 1 Quote

Terry Everall Posted March 4 Posted March 4 I simple terms it was always believed that cross plies gave a better feel and you could control slides whereas radial gave better ultimate grip but could break away much quicker than cross plies. 1 Quote

Curious as can get crossply to 'play' with prior to using radials Crossply are great fun, you can slide the car much easier on them and get away with it. Radials give more ultimate grip, but pushed too far and your gone. Crossplies used to be common in the early 2000's Quote
Captain Colonial Posted March 5 Posted March 5 Yep - radials, you turn with the steering wheel, cross plys, you turn with the throttle. Nothing quite as invigorating as approaching a corner at speed on cross plys, turning the steering wheel and having the car respond with “I’ll think about it and get back to you in the ditch.” 1 Quote
