Andrzej Posted February 25 Posted February 25 I have two Carcoons , one got old and material is weakend, the material tears easily. Glued the tears with some tape, but it is very weak. I assume UV and frost for years did that. Ordered new one before winter (Demon Tweaks,as it was annouced as 2 weeks leading time.. yeah... right... 😕 ) Till toady, got nothing, except for apologize words from Demon Tweaks Stuff. No email response from Carcoon directly too. And I have found what looks as similar product - Car Bubble . Main two differences I can see- Carcoon is two layer design, so there is air flow between two layers , I assume it is better for moisture avoiding. Car Bubble seems to hae only one layer. But Car Bubble they state uses PVC so I assume stronger material. Now -did someone here used Car Bubble ? does it work right as moisture protection inside even it has only one layer of material? Euan Hoosearmy Posted February 25 Posted February 25 I didn't think PVC was particularly UV resistant. Our swimming pool cover dome only lasted three summers (May to September). Carcoons usually last about 6 years before they start falling apart. Quote
Andrzej Posted February 25 Author Posted February 25 Right, that was in case of my first Carcoon, as I remember it even has more than 6 years now. I would like to buy another one, as it really keeps car un-rusted and dry. Just it is impossible 😕 I am waiting 5 months now, and it was even not send . So looking for alternatives. Found also other two alternatives - one seems to be the same as Car Bubble but in Europe, so supouse easier to deal with than with Carcoon, will see. They claim it is "UV, fire, cold and heat resistant", https://inthegarage.com/product/outdoor-car-shield-outdoor-car-cover/ other in.... China but half the price (incl shipping) and longer leading time (still not as long as with Carcoon) . Hm... is it not the same https://www.alibaba.com/product-detail/Outdoor-Waterproof-PVC-inflatable-car-garage_1600789543528.html?spm=a2700.7724857.0.0.6ea24639Vpw3uM Quote
Stuart Davis AO - Devon Cornwall & Somerset Posted February 25 Posted February 25 Slightly off topic, but I need new filters for my Carcoon and ordered some in August last year but am still waiting for them. I chased the other day but no reply yet…. Quote
Andrzej Posted February 25 Author Posted February 25 Not much offtopic. Best product but with no customer service is worth nothing see Mk and Westfield not metioning MNR, last one is disaster if one need simple part as wishbone or arb. Or any other support. Westfield power is in This community ! . And look - really best looking 7 type cars, no doubt I really apreciate carcoon design with two layer surface . But if not possible to buy? Strange. Why they not expand this business .. Having so good product... Customers turn to aliexperss ..not first time btw. Think i will test this cheap and affordable option instead waiting next half year. Ewan Posted February 26 Posted February 26 Slightly off topic, as I think they are for indoor use only, but I use an Air Chamber from airflow-uk.com An excellent product, readily available, with proper customer support (in my experience). Might be worth a call in case they offer an outdoor version. Quote
mega ade Posted February 26 Posted February 26 I don't understand why they have taken so long I ordered my carcoon direct from carcoon and it arrived after 5 weeks im uk which helps however it did arrive with some damage which was a friction tear on the base caused before being boxed I was a bit surprised that such a reputable company would dispatch it in this condition I needed to use it so self repaired. Andrzej Posted February 26 Author Posted February 26 My first 2 carcoons also arrived quite quickly (to Poland) , esp first one before Brexit. Quote
Oldhens Posted February 26 Posted February 26 I ordered mine from Demon Tweeks on eBay and it came in 48hrs and cheaper than from Carcoon direct. Quote
Euan Hoosearmy Posted February 26 Posted February 26 Usually, DT don't keep stock and order from Carcoon when they get an order... Carcoon used to be really customer focussed and made stuff for us to order quite quickly. There were staffing changes a couple of years ago and the customer service since has been very poor. Quote
Andrzej Posted March 1 Author Posted March 1 Canceled my half year old order for carcoon from DT and ordered one from China. Seems to be the same as car Bubble from UK and the same from switzerland just half the price and instant customer service online for colour choince , other details as window floor thickness, etc. 1 Quote
