Ryan_S77 Posted January 29 Posted January 29 Hi all, I’m looking at turning my garage into a workshop/man cave I can work on little projects. Anybody recommend any good lights. I have got some I’m looking at from a local retailer but checking if anyone has any recommendations. Quote
Stuart Davis AO - Devon Cornwall & Somerset Posted January 29 Posted January 29 I bought four of these for my double garage and have been very pleased with them. They are very lightweight, flimsy compared with an old school fluorescent tube fitting but I find them very bright and they were simple to fit. https://www.screwfix.com/p/4lite-advantage-twin-5ft-led-ip20-batten-40w-4900lm-220-240v/919KK?tc=WC4&gclsrc=aw.ds&gad_source=1&gbraid=0AAAAAD8IdPzqLKtRehZsODoESbsy_yq1c&gclid=Cj0KCQiAwOe8BhCCARIsAGKeD56OdXT9TpFbYB8qw5uBWGkYwOZDAGWJoRNpC4W7Kxpd5cPtNjuw0qUaAtLHEALw_wcB Quote
dvd8n Posted January 29 Posted January 29 I was going to recommend these. https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07DTQJSP2?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1 TBH they look like exactly the same fitting with a different name. D Quote
Matt_S Posted January 29 Posted January 29 I have these in my garage, super bright but a tad expensive. https://www.lighting-direct.co.uk/v-tac-60w-daylight-led-weatherproof-batten-4000k-with-samsung-chip-1800mm.html Quote

dvd8n Posted January 30 Posted January 30 Do you really need ones with a 3 hour battery backup in them? D Quote
JohnCh Posted January 30 Posted January 30 This year I supplemented the existing ceiling mounted lights already retrofitted with LEDs in my shop with these strip lights from Barrina. Although I was concerned it might be too bright, I love it. Our weather is similar to the UK, with dreary winter days. Given my shop is large but only has two small windows to let in natural light, good lighting is important. With these additional lights on, it now feels like a nice summer day inside, regardless of the season. In fact, it's always a bit of a shock to walk out of the shop after a couple of hours into the gray drizzle. The bright light makes me forget all about it. Bottom line, my recommendation is to go heavy with the Lumen count. I did a search on Amazon UK, and although the carry Barrina lights, they don't have this long, high lumen version. Sharing it regardless as it may give you some ideas. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0BLZ2TWKZ/?th=1 -John Quote
aeg Posted January 30 Posted January 30 Bought a couple of these from Costco about £35 from memory, have the ability to move them about around the garage as come with loads of cable and I’ve hung them from magnets on my steel roof so can put them anywhere at any angle, I can even put one on the floor and under the car . Also can have the Pir sensor on them so when I come back late and drive into the garage ( electric door opener)they come on so no fumbling around in the dark to get out of the car to a light switch Quote
