7s Speed Series – 2025

Welcome to the newly launched 7s Speed Series – Sprint & Hillclimb Championship for 2025. It is aimed at attracting 7s Type cars and providing a friendly and inviting challenge for those that want to have a go at Motorsport, specifically Sprint & Hillclimb’s which are a great entry to any Motorsport. Safe and a lot of fun to partake in with a friendly bunch of people in the Paddock always willing to help out.

It has been born out of the very successful Westfield Club Championship originally started in 1998, so plenty of experience in running this kind of Championship. Having seen many a 7 at Hillclimb or Sprint, competing in a class by themselves, we wanted to give then a Championship that they could compete against similar cars.

The classes have been chosen to fit in with many of the Clubs whose events we will attend but also specifically restricted to the known 7s type cars out there, whilst at the same time having classes for more usual Kit Cars.

The Scoring is based on % to the 2nd place competitor in each class as shown in the regs. This has proved to be very successful by many of the Sprint & Hillclimb Clubs. By not using records every round is competitive no matter the weather.

We have a total of 32 events for 2025 with 13 Hillclimb’s and 19 Sprints all over the country.

Looking forward to some great Motorsport in 2025. Entries will be open by Mid-January.

I am sure that is correct. A choice of two events on the same days -  a sprint and a hillclimb. Something for everyone in this all inclusive world.

Edit - unless you are referring to Castle Combe on 26 Aug which should be 26 July (its in the correct order, just the wrong month stated 🙂 )

The Bristol motor club are running the castle combe sprint on 26th July,   however our championship doesn't appear on their  Sr list.  Does that mean we can't enter it or is it an error.

Questions

1. I'm almost certain that I haven't entered, but how to be sure?

2. Have the final regs been published yet?

3. I assume that I'll be in Class B (2.3 Duratec road legal). Does this mean I have to waste time and money on an MOT and tax? Is there another class I can run in without MOT and Tax? If so can I run car and driver as I would in Class B?

Hi Richard

1. No, you haven't entered ;)

2. Final regs will be published when approved by MSUK

3. Yes, correct you would be in Class B road going, assuming that is where you want to compete. We are governed by Motorsport UK NCR's and under CHAPTER 14 Appendix 4 - 12.1 , yes you will need an MOT & Tax to compete in a road legal class. If you wish to run without this then you could compete in Class E for Modified Cars.

Thanks Nick.

1. Now entered

3. I have trawled through MSUK's web site but can't find the NCRs. Can you direct me please? Edited. Finally found it at https://motorsportuk.s3.eu-west-2.amazonaws.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/Motorsport-UK_NCR-2025_v8_120225_4.pdf

If I were to run in Class E what are the implications for the car and myself in terms of these regulations?

Richard, class E basically means anything goes, most cars would be on slicks but nothing stopping you using road tyres, there was a V8 Westfield that ran at Anglesey a couple of years ago and he used road tyres but entered as class E solely as it saved him the expense of tax and insurance. David

Thanks David, I'm wondering if Class E means that belts and seats have to be in date and that I have to have some sort of super licence, currently RS Interclub. The car is insured anyway under my multi policy
