key750 Posted December 13, 2024 Posted December 13, 2024 (edited) (First please forgive my rusty English) Westfield on the website have a form to be filled in with your request, but like happens on the "big" companies the request arrives to a employee tempested by stupid questions and can be lost. I really need and relatively urgently of a: "Construction declaration" because I have buy a Westfield SE1W plated on 1995 but is a 93 frame! and this declaration car help me to pay 1000 gbp less of taxes. If I demonstrate she's 30 years old or more i pay 6% of import taxes on the car value instead 20%!!! Someone already had a contact in Westfield for ask documents (to try contact directly)? Kind regards Alberto. Edited December 13, 2024 by key750 Quote

Ian Kinder (Bagpuss) - Joint Peak District AO Posted December 13, 2024 Posted December 13, 2024 Sorry to advise the current owners aren't likely to be able to help. Quote

I think the 93 is the chassis stamp? so that is the year the chassis was manufactured not the age of the car Quote

Kind regards Alberto. The chassis build year isn't really taken into consideration on import, the car has been registered for the road on 1995 and that's all that matters. Likely the first builder bought the chassis on 1993 but completed and registered the car on 1995. Quote

A car built in 1993 can be rest in a showroon 2 years or in a storage (in the form of a pile of welded pipes). Not important for legislation, the data important is the building year. Quote
Ewan Posted December 13, 2024 Posted December 13, 2024 This may be irrelevant (!), but, a few years ago I imported a 1968 Lamborghini from Italy. There was no paperwork to prove the date of registration, but the chassis plate was dated 1968. The DVLA here then accepted a letter from the Lambo Owners Club U.K. that stated the chassis plate date was correct, so they gave me a 1968 registration date. There must be cases where the manufacturer no longer has the data/paperwork, and therefore a common sense approach (as above) prevails. BTW, my Westy is from 1993 and I have paperwork from the factory from that time. If your chassis is a lower number than mine, that would help prove yours was built before mine. Might that help? 2 Quote
tex Posted December 16, 2024 Posted December 16, 2024 Chassis numbers are not sequential. I worked 30yrs as an inspector for Nissan (yes it's obviously not Westfield) but chassis can hang around for quite a while and even be shuffled about before being assembled as a kit to be shipped out so an order comes in. A chassis number is allocated (next in line). It goes to fabrication.. Fault is found holding up a chassis. While others head out. It's true as you say that it'll give a rough idea of age but not a sequential order of build. We had x2 sets of numbers. One chassis generated at body shop, and a 2nd sequence number generated as cars were sent to trim (for parts coming from other /manufacturers to meet the cars assembly slot) You might strike lucky heading back in time on the WSCC club forum.. Maybe the owner was there.. Don't look, won't know.. Good luck Quote

Thank you for your offering but Maurici have helped enough. In any case... yesterday... the previous owner have find the contract with Westfield: 3 december 1993. I thank everyone for their interest, a wonderful example of a group and it increases the sense of belonging to a community 👍 3 Quote
