p k Posted November 28, 2024 Posted November 28, 2024 The steering wheels on MK2 fiestas were offset vertically supposedly for more precision in the straight ahead position and better view of instruments and some aftermarket wheel companies make a similar idea https://www.moto-lita.co.uk/products/flat-offset-wheel-leather-3-spoke-polished some firms also make flat bottomed wheels 1 Quote
RickRack Posted November 29, 2024 Posted November 29, 2024 15 hours ago, Captain Colonial said: It will definitely help. As per @RickRack’s photo, the Team Momo wheel in 280mm is a good choice (I’ve got one as well) due to the size and large top opening to enable easier viewing of the speedo and rev counter. Beware of fake ones however, avoid buying from eBay, lots cheap and nasty ones out there that would bend if you farted wrong. This will sound silly and I regularly get stick for suggesting it, but if you cut out a 280mm diameter circle out of cardboard and sit in the car with it over (or in place of) the steering wheel, you’ll get some idea of how much it may or may not help before purchasing. If you farted wrong lmfao 🤪 Quote
Steve G. Posted November 29, 2024 Posted November 29, 2024 Can you gain any room by adjusting the pedals ? I'm not that tall but still wasn't comfortable. Quote
sebdangerfield Posted November 29, 2024 Author Posted November 29, 2024 I wasn't aware I could adjust them but thanks for the pointer, I'll take a look. In fairness, the actual position is good for me, it's just my thunder thighs collide with the wheel. I'm buying the three bolt wheel spacer tonight so will report back how that works. I had intended to but an offset wheel too but I'm struggling to find as many three hole wheels that are offset so will see how the spacer does then work from there. Quote
Steve G. Posted November 29, 2024 Posted November 29, 2024 I don't know what model you have but I ended up remaking the pedals on my early car. Even if you don't go that far you might be able to gain a little legroom by adjusting the length of the pushrods, depends if you can afford to loose any travel. 1 Quote
