matthew902 Posted Sunday at 15:24 Share Posted Sunday at 15:24 Going to replace the lighting in my garage should I be getting 4000k natural light or 6000k cool white. Currently have x4 6ft twins.
Captain Colonial Posted Sunday at 15:29 Share Posted Sunday at 15:29 Perhaps a photo of what the inside of your garage looks like might help? I should think the walls being painted white or not would possibly affect things.
Ian Kinder (Bagpuss) - Joint Peak District AO Posted Sunday at 15:38 Share Posted Sunday at 15:38 Light colour is a matter of personal preference. Cool white would be my choice for a garage
matthew902 Posted Sunday at 15:55 Author Share Posted Sunday at 15:55 It is a concrete sectional garage walls not painted cupboards and a work bench with westfield parked in middle
Craigieboy Posted Sunday at 19:20 Share Posted Sunday at 19:20 It's a concrete sectional garage I've got and gave it a make over during lock down. Used cool white led batten lights from screwfix and painted the walls and roof white and the floor grey. Made quite a difference and makes the best of the new lights. dvd8n Posted Sunday at 19:43 Share Posted Sunday at 19:43 In my opinion the natural or warm colours are much more what you want for living areas but in work areas the cool colours are starker but seem brighter. One place that I worked made a big thing about their factory lights' spectrum replicating natural sunlight. They always seemed dingy indoors and lots of people agreed. But it's all about personal preference. D
corsechris Posted Monday at 06:41 Share Posted Monday at 06:41 I fitted 6000K LED tubes to replace warmer (and dimmer) fluorescents. So much better imo. Daylight is quoted as 5500 to 6500K so replicating that for a workspace seems sensible. YMMV
Blatman Posted Monday at 12:27 Share Posted Monday at 12:27 Agreed. As white as possible and as many as possible. I think I ended up with 12 (6 doubles) strip lights in a 16 x 8 garage and I'd still need a torch every so often. If I'd had more time I'd have put lights on the walls too... I also agree with getting the walls, ceilings and as much else as you can painted white if at all possible. It makes a huge difference.
