The Three Sisters round of Speed Series presented a challenge for our new 2004 bonus point scoring system.

In addition to the traditional Class 2a and 2b we had 2a Westfield and 2b Westfield – kindly laid on by LDMC for our benefit, with identical entry criteria.

Some entered the traditional class and some entered the special Westfield class. We had Westfields all over the place.

Regulation 1.6 states “An additional single bonus point shall be awarded to the overall class winner on the day, unless the event class comprises of all WSCC Speed Series entrants, whereupon no bonus point shall be awarded.”

The official results identify the following class winners:

2a                  Robert Bellerby              49.50

2a Westfield   Richard Smallridge            49.31

2b                  Paul Edden                   49.95

2b Westfield   David Uren                     48.46 (record)

There were other championship contenders in 2a and 2b.

In the circumstances, it is decided that so far as Speed Series is concerned these classes are amalgamated and therefore Richard Smallridge and David Uren are awarded a bonus point each.

Amendments will be made on publication of the next set of results.

Secondly I received a call from Peter Riley, LDMC official and Clerk of the Course last Sunday. He wanted me to pass on his congratulations to David Uren on his new course record and to Speed Series drivers in general and looks forward to seeing us all again in October..
