Hi,

am I right in thinking that all copper brake lines have Convex ends ?? (I'm looking to replace some flexi hoses and the "bulkhead" fittings at the front - just want to make sure I order the right bits before dismantling…

thanks

I think it varies to be honest.

I seem to recall the connection where where hoses come from the caliperss and mate up to the copper pipe would have a concave flare, i.e. they could accept the pointy end of the flexible hose, but the fittings which went into the T-piece at the front of the engine bay had a convex flare, i.e. they needed to be angled in such a way as to sit in an angled "cup" within the T-piece.

I know it's a bit s**t or bust, but the simplest way would be to disconnect the fittings and have a look at what's been done previously.

Just to add to Nick's good advice, if you havent got an old pipe to compare, look carefully at the fitting/hole the pipe will be going into. It needs to be the 'opposite' to that. If the fitting has a convex end, the pipe will need a concave end, and visa versa.

as a general rule of thumb male fittings have a convex flare and female fittings have a concave flare.
