Auto aid seems pretty good for around £50 a year. You might also get a deal with your insurer, who are you with?

I searched for cover for my daughter earlier this year and eventually settled on RAC cover, but not the normal type of cover, which were all pretty expensive for a car that was just out of manufacturer cover.

Can't for the life of me find how much I paid, but it was low under £30 I think, however there is a £40 excess for any call outs.

Might not suit everyone, but for a fairly new car mostly driven locally with no issues it was ideal.

I had existing cover previously with Greenflag for the family daily, I then added myself as an extra for cover in any vehicle that I was in as long as it was less than 16years old for £30 per year

My Auto-Aid renewal in October is £95.54 but this includes £10 for spouse and £21.90 for 16+ year old vehicle.  This compares with £78.64 last year.  So getting more expensive year by year.

Motorcycles are a different ball game.

We rode to Scotland every year, so I needed my bike and me fetching home.

I joined the RAC with this in mind, and one year they fetched me home from Oban.

Less than $100 a year  so i have keep it going ever since.(5+ years)

We had a disaster with Greenflag - would never use them again!!

RAC and AA have both been good…

Just check what age they cover, if it’s an old Westfield it may not be covered…

It is the luck of the draw often with the companies depending upon where you break down and what your cover offers.

For me RAC were shockingly bad when my wife broken down . Greenflag on the other hand when my motorhome threw a belt bearing were superb. They turned out as they all do to have a look, agreed it was fubar and within 1.5 hours on a truck home from near Minehead.

When my daughter broke down in her mini, as a lone woman they were out again within the hour.

AA and RAC are a shadow of themselves but heard good things about some of the smaller ones who use local garages. I will be checking my cover with Greenflag as it is supposed to cover all vehicles and my motorbikes regardless of age as it is me covered rather than a vehicle

Have a look at Money Saving Expert. I had a similar renewal price for exactly the same package but got it for £76.99 by cancelling auto renewal and taking out a new policy using an MSE code

I have RAC cover for myself in any car, £8 odd a month. So far never had to use it, touch wood.

If you go AA you can get 40% off the first year. I just have the basic covering me in any car and the renewal was £87.

I have a Nationwide Flex Plus bank account which costs £18 a month but gives us:

annual family travel insurance

Europe wide breakdown coverage and it’s AA in the UK - including my motor home

Family phone insurance

If you need all 3 it’s a good deal
