Carcoon Veloce

My new Seight is safely in its Carcoon Veloce bubble until I can finish my workshop and look at a couple of small jobs I want to do.

 

This is a Veloce small 2.3m x 4.33 in silver. This is quite a nice size for a Westfield as there’s enough room to move around the car.

 

Its very easy to put up other than there’s too much powder coat on the end of some of the poles meaning they don’t slide together as well as they should.

The Veloce is designed for indoor use but they do sell an outdoor Carcoon

Yes, I have 2 outdoor coocons, just without this construction inside, which is I think very usefull - opening seems easier and snow dont make normal carcoon collapse on car . Would be gereat to use outdoor unit with construction inside. 

 

Edit.. I looked at it second time, no way it can handle even few cm of snow. Or wind.  So indoor / under roof use only .

Is that the smallest one they sell? I'm toying with buying one rather than spend a lot of money on adding a lower ceiling to the workshop and spend on heating it.. Then insulating... For the sake of a few hundred pounds it's a winning solution. They do make a competition version which is supposed to be the smallest. 

My workshop is very short.. Like a foot either end of the car to the door. It was a cattle shed originally 200yrs ago..

they do (or at least did) make custom sizes as I had one made by them for one of my cars.

 

i don’t know what their delivery time is on these is like now though as I’ve read some poor reports in the past about customer service and delivery times so it may be safer to buy a standard size from a retailers such as Demon Tweeks.

This time of year, when lots of people are trying to buy carcoons, I'd recommend dealing with Carcoon directly. Demon Tweeks will take your money and sit on it until Carcoon send them stock. It may not be any quicker, but you've more chance of knowing how long you're going to wait....

 

We had a zip failure on an outdoor carcoon that we had bought directly from Carcoon, they sent us a box, arranged pick-up, fixed the carcoon and sent it back to us.

That’s good to know. My zip is loosing a few teeth here and there, so may well need replacing at some point.

One of my carcoons also lost few dents, but I will rather try to fix it myself  , lot of  troubles with sending to UK and back .

Hope it will be as easy as on YT videos  : (yes, I know, it is never as easy...) 

 

 

 

 

 

Anyway , I have just ordered third outdoor Carcoon.

First two directly from company, this one from DemonTweeks. Previos first was quick delivery, second took much longer, now will see.. They claim 2 weeks, if that is true seems ok. And for foreign shopping they claim there is no additional unknown costs (vat, duty taxes , agency fee ) as it was when I bought from company direcly. Will see if that is true.

They also sell an extra small which is 2M x 4M so would still fit a Westfield.

I found it cheapest and easiest via the Demon Tweeks shop on EBay, next day delivery.

Cheers guys.. I'm going to have a shop about. First frost was last night.. I can hear my car grumbling again.. Maybe it's a protest why it won't start.. Get me warmer accommodation or else.. 👍

Check Facebook Marketplace, EBay etc - sometimes get them come up second hand. If you're really lucky BNIB!!

 

Don't buy one that's >5years old if it's been up most of that time. They don't last forever. The UV gets to the outdoor ones eventually.
