What's easiest and cheapest way to install Word and Excel

Don’t. Just use Pages and Numbers apps. The last thing you want to do is sully it with Micro$haft apps!

That's the cheapest.  And it is fully compatible with all the Office apps.

 

That was going to be my answer too.  It's available for Windows, Linux and Mac and I've never had compatibility issues with Office.

Yes they do. You open the MS doc up edit it then export to MS doc. I do that all the time.

You can get basic word etc on a free Office365 account. Cut down versions but might do all you need (if you can be bothered with the hassle of creating an account)
