Buzz Billsberry Posted April 5, 2004 Posted April 5, 2004 I've bought a few Performance bits for my red westy and the guy lives in Germany. I was gonna do a straight transfer from my bank to his. However, my bank (Yorkshire Bank) want to charge me £25 for the privilege of doing so. Is there anyway of transfering the money without incurring charges etc any advice would be very help Buzz PS See I do have the ability to post sensible Posts Quote
Bananaman Posted April 5, 2004 Posted April 5, 2004 £25 seems a lot, is this for same day transfer? I did a similar thing Royworld Express/Same Day Value Euro Payment the other day & it cost me £20 from RBS. I would have thought a less speedy transaction would be cheaper. Quote
S8ight Posted April 5, 2004 Posted April 5, 2004 forgive me for stating the obvious but why not send euros in the post to him ? Quote
karlgurney Posted April 5, 2004 Posted April 5, 2004 See if he has a paypal account you could send him the money that way it'd be cheaper than a bank transfer Karl Quote
steve_m Posted April 5, 2004 Posted April 5, 2004 I've used a service from HSBC in the past to send Australian $, cost £9 and it took about 3 days for the money to arrive. There was a max of about £5000 though for the £9. Quote
oioi Posted April 6, 2004 Posted April 6, 2004 im with karlgurney - paypal. easy to set up and use and charges at about 3.5% (depending upon account type etc) are not too horific. i guess just depends on the total value of the go faster bits Quote
Buzz Billsberry Posted April 6, 2004 Author Posted April 6, 2004 Cheers guys i have thought about sending euro's but its quite a bit of wedge and the thought of it disappearing en-route even with registered post and insurance just causes hassle No go with paypal so I'll try the HSBC Many thanks for the advice guys its much apppreciated.I need to send the money pretty quickly as he's already sent the goods which i thought was pretty good of him seems like Anglo-German relations are still good! Blatman Posted April 6, 2004 Posted April 6, 2004 There are *loads* of places that'll do "wire transfers" for money. Western Union spring to mind, but there are others...... Your credit card co may also have some sort of system or knowledge about how to do this, as would your bank...... Quote
