It's a bit far to get to any of the current meetings from Andover so was wondering if anything was going on a bit more local. 

 

Not sure what would be involved in starting a new group, local members would be a start but wouldn't want to poach anyone from elsewhere unless they would be able to get to both. 

 

I've been investigating other local club meets, classic car meets etc but the only one I have found which is for any interesting cars is still about 3/4 of an hour away.

Hampshire has it's own AO, BUT... it's a big old county and the monthly meet (Leigh-on-Solent) is about an hour's drive from me. For that reason I stay in touch with the Surrey group as the border is only a few miles from me. Andover is about 45 mins from me and there's lots of lovely countryside (twisty roads) in-between.

 

For non-specific car groups near you, look up "Wheels of Wallop" on FaceBook - they meet mostly at the Museum of Army Flying and that's only 15mins from Andover.

Thanks Euan, I think you mentioned the Wallop meet last time I asked about this. 

 

I wouldn't want to try and take over the Hampshire area as it's pretty big as you say. South Hants meeting is just over an hour away. A lot of what I have seen that Surrey do is probably the same. The Dorset meet is about 2 hours away, Bath is 1 1/2 hours and Thames Valley is about 1 1/4 hours.

Looking at the map I am pretty much in the middle of all of them !

The multi make club I found is based in Cheriton and were the ones who I spoke to at the Thruxton Historic meeting. It would be nice to get a proper Westfield club presence there next year but again not sure how many people there are locally to attend.

Cheriton - Is that at the Flower Pots or the Hinton Arms?

 

Thruxton is an easy run for me - did one of the Hendy days last year. There's a few Westfield owners this side of Hampshire, might be possible to get a group together. For me it all depends on clashes with other meets and available childcare....

Thats at the Flower Pots, it's the monthly meet of the Allsorts Club. There is a meeting/show at the Hinton Arms coming up as well.

Showing a car at Thruxton has to be through a registered club so it might be possible for next year.

I'm planning to go to the Wallop meet on Saturday if it's dry.  Looks to be a good mix of cars there so should be interesting.

Managed to get out in the car this morning. Interesting multi make meet at Middle Wallop.

Hopefully the weather will be Ok for a while.
